New Camino 1.0.1 released Linkety (http://www.caminobrowser.org)
Fixes several critical security issues, including those fixed in v. 1.8.0.3 of the Mozilla Gecko rendering engine. Upgraded bundled Java Embedding Plugin to version 0.9.5+d. Improved ad-blocking, (German ads). Enabled opening of local SVG files. Fixed issue where Camino on Intel Macs was unable to read Keychain entries stored by Camino on PPC Macs.

I'm still using a G4 iMac, so i'll give the optimized builds a try. I have to agree, Camino is the best browser for Macs.

Unless they fix its horrendous anti-aliasing, I'm not going near it.

Not easy to see in this screen grab, but Camino (foreground) renders text dull and gray, while Safari is crisp and black.

I just compared text from Camino and Safari and could barely tell the difference. It doesn't seem like a big issue to me.

It's a matter of preference, it doesn't mean Camino is unusbale, some people just like the blacker text better, like me. :D

I prefer Camino to all the other browsers out. I like the look of the text, Safari's text redendering looks like a PC to me.

It's a bigger deal with serif fonts than with sans serif. So Macrumors looks pretty good, but the NY Times (and Word Munger) look bad.

Is it just me or did Camino just take the speed crown!

I didn't know that Camino ever *lost* the speed crown?

not to sound completely stupid but seeing as I have a PowerBook G4 I'd use the 7400 G4 build correct? :o

No, this is actually really confusing. I'm pretty sure you should use the 7450 build and not the 7400... the 7400 was an older generation of the G4. If anything, it might be on some TiBooks, but (correct if I'm wrong), all Aluminum PBG4s and all iBook G4s are 7450 class processors.

An easy way to find out is to open up terminal and type in the command "machine". :)

well I know it uses a PPC 7447a chip (its 1.5Ghz) I just didn't know as it doesn't really follow either numbering scheme exactly (well until mkrishnan enlightened me with the wikipedia link). ;)
EDIT: did what you said lol and it came up 7450...haha thanks for the tip

If only it worked so well on Intel machines. On my Core Solo mini it reports: "i486". :)
