"Delete" key behavior in certain Terminal apps

In vi and a couple other apps I've noticed that the Delete key behaves like, well, the Delete key in Windoze. However, I would like it to work like the backspace key (or Ctrl-H). Is there a way to globally set Terminal to interpret Ctrl-H when you hit the Delete key?
