Wonder Showzen tv show - Q & A segment
 
How can you tell the difference from Apple's text-to-speach and any other computer/machine talking? So many of them sound the same.
 
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that out of all the synthesized voices I've heard, they are almost always different enough from one another to be distinguishable as different voices.

Very true. I saw Stephen Hawking on TV the other day, and his computer sounds very much like the Apple text-to-speech in OS X, but I'm pretty sure he uses Windows.
 
Wow, someone made a topic about this? It's a freakin computer voice. It can be done on any computer.

What a more interesting topic would be is what loops have you heard from Garageband, that are used in media music. I've heard them a few times.

I think that's what it's called anyway.
They use TalkBackToBasics and the Mac "sings" the whole song.
It's a fantastic tune. So is their track "Simple Text File" in which the only instrument is a dot matrix printer.

Yeah, he uses a DECtalk voice.
 
I suppose it's the modern synthesized voices that are distinguishable from one another and the primitive ones are actually pretty similar.
