how to convert an ipod (mp4) video to *audio* for the use in garageband?

I thank you in advance.

Sorry, I can't answer your question. But, I've been wanting to do this for ages. Can anyone help this person?

it is DRM protected? Try WireTap

Is it not DRM protected?
Open it with Quicktime Pro and select export. Select:

I would also recommend Audio Hijack.

You would need to record the audio in real time with both wiretap, and AH..

you could split the Audio and video into seperate streams using a Demuxer in a program like FFmpegX.

but, if that quicktime solution above works, then that's def the way to go.

Import the video into iMovie, do under advanced<Extract Audio

That will get the audio off the movie, and then all you have to do is save the audio, then import into Garageband
