I have a project where I have to 'recreate' a logo, as in starting from scratch in illustrator, and making my logo look exactly like the professional one. I chose Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio for my logo. Does anyone know what font they use? Any tips or suggestions?

Can't help you with the font, but you can try here: Identifont. (http://www.identifont.com/)
They ask quite a few questions about the font you are looking for.
Tried it once, the results weren't perfect but they worked.

I try Identifont all the time and I have yet to get it to work. I keep thinking the database will grow and it will find my font, yet it never does.
This place let's you upload a scan

I used to know another site run by a graphic designer who made a hobby out of figuring out fonts. I can't find it right now, but maybe someone else knows about it.

It turns out that they have a guy who likes to roll his own fonts (http://letterheadfonts.com/contributors/briankniceley/index.shtml) on board, so you may not find a standard match.

There is also www.whatthefont.com
You could also try showing us what the logo looks like, and I am sure someone will be quick to help you out with what the font may be, as long as some tips as to how to achieve the logo.
