Ouch!

As for keyboards, #1, coffee, but only the Esc key doesn't work now.

None.

I am very cautious while I am working with my Computers. But I know some other people who killed some keyboards already...

an entire glass of water right into my keyboard was the cause of a freaking out thread by me in December. I was working on my final assignment for an animation class when it happened. I was almost done, it was due in about 17 hours or so....Needless to say....I didnt finish, but was able to hand it in a little later, thank god. It dried out after a day.

I still drink by the computer though. Drinking coffee right now. But I am a lot more careful now with liquids near the keyboard.

I haven't broken a single keyboard, but my I did wreck my iPod remote when I spilled Cherry Soda on it.

1: two years ago, summer, for my Toshiba laptop; the keyboard started inputting on it's own, randomly, and -- fortunately, it was still under warranty.

You know that thin bit of foamy material Apple sticks betwixt screen and keyboard? I've kept it for me iBook and it's worked wonders whilst eating spaghetti and other yummy slashy things.

i've spilled beer on no less than three keyboards and rendered them inoperable ... none were Macs, bt two were IBM Thinkpads that took some finagling to get fixed.

luckily, by the time i bought my first Mac, I had already quit drinking...

Ha, I remember that! Zero for me, but my sister spilled wine on her laptop, the other sis water, then her roommate spilled clam chowder on hers.

My grandmother got the original iMac back in 1998 (if I remember right). I thought she was crazy for getting a Mac - lol.

So I was trying it out like 2 weeks after she got it and knocked a glass of coke into the keyboard. Being a new thing, keyboards were hard to come by and darned expensive.

Anyway...

Little did I know I'd end up getting a Mac myself only 3 years later after getting assigned my Apple Campus Rep as a roommate and then seeing OS X. Now I'm fully "switched" and I've become one of those fanatics I always made fun of in my PC days.

I'll always remember my first experience with one of the "new" Macs (ie. translucent and USB) was spilling a coke into its keyboard.

None so far. I've had some close calls but nothing fatal. :D The first thing I do when I spill a drink is grab the keyboard and mouse!

My school had a great trade in program- I would spill beer on my keyboard, and then trade it at the lab the next day.

Same here but no actuall spillage reaching the crevacis of the keyboard or any other electronic device for that matter.

I've also never dropped, kicked, static shocked, or damaged any of my computers or any other electronic device I have ever owned.

I have dropped my cell phone on a couple occasions and the cordless phone but neither actually showed any marks or damage.

The cables hanging under the tables and around the flor are a mayor factor in my studio. Just this morning I said to my girlfriend "watch out with that cab..." and she pulled all the cables behind the computer with her leg reaching out the phone.

I dropped the powerbook twice for same reason, once it didn't even touch the flor just stuck between the cables.

That is a mayor problem here.

No drinks, food or cigars are allow in this area. Cigarretes at list 20 meters from here.

Didn't happen to me but one of my Profs had a cup of coffee spilled on her 3 month old powerbook g4. Some of the lab techs eventually got it working after cleaning the dried coffee out of the keyboard and ram sockets. The think works like a charm now but smells like Hazlenut coffee when it heats up.

Ever hear of a Galileo Thermometer? Yeah, I had one. Then it got knocked over one day and all of the oil inside pored into my keyboard and on to the desk and floor. Needless to say it was not a very good day. Total damage... $60 Keyboard, $150 for the thermometer, and eventually I have to refinish a section of my bedroom floor where the oil damaged it.

At least I now know what is in one of those Thermometers. :D

I spilled quite a bit into my last keyboard. 2 Sprite bottles and one Dr.Pepper. The first two times, it dried out and worked fine after being wiped off. The last time, the right Command key died, but other than that it is still fine.

$150 for a Galileo Thermometer? Must've been one of the big ones... I keep mine well away from my keyboard. I guess I've been fortunate. Haven't lost one yet to liquids.

I have broken (well, it wasn't broken, but it was hell to type on)
an iMac keyboard, just by over-use and crumbs, and small amounts
of liquids dripping into it. ;)
