I want to like and use skype but I am at a point where I don't kow if i want to try out another Messaging app. Especially one that can't keep its app-crossplateform- equal.

That being said this sounds like a slick little thing ot add to an email. One of the things i most like about Mail.app is that it shows who is online in iChat. Very cool.

You can send SMS from iChat.

Just go to New Chat With Person, and enter their phone number with a + sign in front.

I'm not sure if they can reply though--I can't test that because my friends won't pay the dime to reply :D

Nope, doesn't work.

I find iChat unintuitive. I just don't get how to use it. Can I make phone calls with it? Do I have to pay for SMS (assuming I can get it to work)?

I just find Skype easier to use.
