You may find these useful

There is also a Wiley book named "UNIX for Mac" that is very good at explaining various Terminal concepts and commands for those not used to UNIX OSs. ISBN 0-7645-3730-X.

The ISBN number is international. The book itself is US published, but I picked up a copy at Waterstone's in the UK easily enough. Quote the number at your local bookshop and they should be able to order it for you.

I know David Pogue's Missing Manual had a great chapter on the Terminal and Unix near the end.
At least, it was there in the Jaguar edition...

It's not terribly complicated, and if you're ever confused about the necessary syntax for a command, it's just man <command>.

If you search (http://forums.macrumors.com/search.php) these forums for threads with the word "terminal" in the title, you'll find some other tips and links for getting started.

This tutorial goes through the basics of working in a UNIX shell. I would expect that most of the commands listed in the tutorial will work without any problems on OS X. (From the shell user perspective one of the big differences between different variants of UNIX is that some commands have different switches on different systems.)

Here are another couple of pages with learning UNIX resources:
