I was just browsing the UK store when the familiar "We'll be back soon " message came up.
Maybe the Macbooks and/or ibooks WILL be released today.
We'll have to wait and see.

Cool, but its weird that the US store is still up, its usually the first to go down.....Anyhow as much as i'd like to see an MacBook update I think we'll probably just see the new red iPods and the MacBook's probably on Thursday at the press conference as steve will want something substantial to talk about...

The sign is never right - it usually takes over an hour.
I've been watching the Finland site, which is still up - the 'slip ups' during the down time usually occur there (last time they prematurely revealed the banner ad for the 17 inch MBP).
Will be interesting to see what updates there are - surely not a MacBook at last? ;)

If it is Macbooks (and I just refreshed the US Apple Store to make sure it isn't yet), I'm buying one. But not for me personally. I'm going to bring my grandparents into the digital age with it -- depending, of course, on price and specs. For $999 with an integrated iSight (integrated graphics are almost a given, and I don't care either way), I'm sold. If it costs more than that or comes with less, I'm going to have to rethink. My generosity only extends so far.
My sister just got her first Apple computer, an Intel iMac, and she found it so easy to set up that I thought she made a good trial run for my grandparents' potential experience. They've never touched a computer, but my grandmother likes the idea of e-mail (and a softer keypad than her typewriter), and my grandfather is the sort of guy who would spend hours on HowStuffWorks.com. So, yeah, I'm buying. With provisions.
