A judge on Tuesday struck down Georgia's ban on same-sex marriage, saying a measure overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2004 violated a rule that limits ballot questions to a single subject.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Constance C. Russell said the state's voters must first decide whether same-sex relationships should have any legal status before they can be asked whether to ban same-sex marriages.

sheesh, im kinda surprised actually that a judge from the south actually seems to abide by the law. i, for one, dont understand why gay marriages are even being questioned, but the ppl living in the land between california and the east coast (minus chicago of course ;) dont seem to see things so simply

Gotta blame somebody. Terrorists were good for awhile. Abortion didn't really go anywhere. Immigration is kinda backfiring on them. Sorry, you guys (and gals, though we don't seem to mind lesbians as much for some reason) are pretty much all they have left. Good to see not everyone is still falling for it though.

A nice victory, but probably a temporary one. This rule was slapped down on a technicality, not on its own merits (or lack of same). You can bet the idjits who passed this thing in the first place will be back with a revised version.

Not really a victory, IMO. Like you said, it appears the Georgia court struck down the law based upon a technicality. The majority of folks in Georgia are selfish bigots and still want their silly law, technicalities be damned. Next time, they'll do it by the book. :mad:

I understand Rove and gang will be using the Gay issue to get borderline Republicans into the polls. This could be the exact kind of thing they will use to say see see we need to fear the Gays:rolleyes: Mark my words but Rove and gang will be trying to get anti gay measures on the ballots just to get those people to the polls.
