So, uh, that equates to paying for an iBook and paying only $100 for Electric Image's Universe 5 3D modeling software. Wohoo, sign me up!

dude! thats a great deal!

the software is $1295, and the iBook is worth like $1200.

so.... buy the software, get the ibook, sell the software, keep the ibook!!!

i just meant putting it towards a next purchase, not something at the exact price. i was being sarcastic though in my last comment.

According to Amazon, the 700 MHz model EI is giving away "...is not stocked or has been discontinued."

So perhaps an update is days away?

So has anyone actually done this yet? I think its really only a $999.00 value to get the iBook they list free (at least at the apple store). This seems like a great deal, however, is there a market to re-sell the software ie... is it any good?

EI has one of the fastest renderers out there, faster than Maya. They use it a lot for hard-body modelling in films like the recent Star Wars films.

if it would be possible to resell, i will for sure do it!...maybe sell it for like $900 or so, cause that will still be a superdeal!

except if you spent $300 more you'd get an ibook, to sell. 'fraid i don't see a real plus to this offer...

very interesting tho...
