anyone know of an app/way (free please!) that can record the video/sound displayed on my comp?
 
The only app I know of that does a decent job is Ambrosia's Snapz Pro X, which is US$70. I suppose you could get an S-Video display adapter and use a VCR, but that's not optimal.
