In addition, both new models have a mini-DVI port through which, with the appropriate $19 adapter, you can attach a VGA, S-Video, or composite monitor, or a DVI display such as an Apple Cinema Display (up to 23 inches only). You’re no longer limited to mirroring, either—the new models also support extended-desktop mode.

I copied that from an imac review. Does that mean that I can't hook up my imac to an lcd tv that is bigger than 23 inches? Or a front projector that is 16 ft by 9 ft display?

What does the "up to 23 inches only" mean?

Everyone please respond.
Thanks,
Vincent

What does the "up to 23 inches only" mean?

Only applies to the Apple Cinema Displays above 23", i.e. the 30" which requires Dual DVI.

Most HDTVs have much lower resolution than even the 20". Expect 1280x720 or 1366x768.

My projector is 1366x768.
So I am assuming that it should work quite nicely with the Imac for running dvds. As the computer has better resolution than the projector. And I am really happy with the resolution on the projector already.
is this all correct?
thanks,
vincent

You are correct.

When they say up to 23" display, they really mean the resolution. The resolution of Apple's 23" monitor is 1920x1200. Your projector should have no problem.

Note that you may need to tweak the display settings using something like SwitchResX to minimize overscan and get it to display well.

If your projector has a VGA or DVI input that is intended for computer use, you might want to try that first before trying to use an HDMI port.
