Our (Me and my mate Luke's) G5 iMac that we use for our studio (music production) has a dead logic board and we didn't get the extra Applecare warranty because we're, well, cheap is the best way to describe it.

But the guys here at Apple are gonna fix it for us for free anyway, even though it's 18 months old, how cool are they.

What's the use of paying for the extra warranty if they fix your computer when it's knackered anyway out of warranty.

Now that's what I call service.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

You were lucky this time. Next time, get the Applecare.

It may have had the capacitor problem, when it does there is a good chance they will repair it out of warranty.

Yeah, that's exactly what it was doing weird stuff all over the screen.

Wonder if the capacitor failed because the iMac always so hot because we're using it for music, constant writing to hard drive and the CPU sits at a constant 90% in use. I'm suprised the poor computer copes with the load we put it under. It's like having a mini heater in the room.

The capacitors failed, because of a manufacturing flaw.

Problem is, the capacitors were used by a lot of manufacturers.

Drives, upgrade cards, tvs, computers, electronics of all sorts dying.
