Thought this might be fun...see what OS people are running...any older machines etc. :)

For those who don't know how, you can use CMD-SHIFT-4, and crosshairs will appear. You can then drag the crosshairs across the area you want to select and an image will appear on your desktop that you can attach.

I don't think it's been mentioned in this particular thread, but...
After hitting Cmd-Shift-4, instead of drawing a box around what you want, you can simply hit spacebar and get a screenshot of any element (window, menu bar, dock, icon, etc...) Makes it easier and neater looking.

Why didn't the custom styrofoam stand show up in the profiler??

It's gone, thanks for reminding me. It was taking up so much space on my desk and wasn't high enough. I'm now using two of the three battery boxes Apple sent me in the recall. They mucked up my order and sent me three instead of one. That was about 6 months ago, I rang them the day they came in and told them but so far - nothing. I didn't get any return shipping stickers for them and I'm not paying to send them back so here they will stay until Apple ask for them back.

Tinkertool.

Actually, I don't think TinkerTool can change that option in Panther.

You should be able to do it by opening up Terminal and typing the following:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type png

(You can of course substitute "jpeg" or "gif" for "png" if you prefer a different format, or use "pdf" to change things back.)

One of the kids in my youth group got mad at her mother because she told her she didn't get her cell phone. Her mom told her she had decided to give it to her this fall when her daughter went to school. Her mom gave her the cell phone after graduation. Yes she was embarrassed.

I knew you would bust me! ;) The first one had a battery that would not charge, the second one had the hinge issue that you heard. I took it back and I was going to chance it one more time, but, they were all sold out. I just decided to get the MBP and hope for the best. Not having two mortgages has an upside! lol... The funny thing is I miss that little booger. (macbook, not the two mortgage payments.)

I am sure I do! :o But, the last two were not my fault! I have pretty bad luck though. I asked for an MBP with a glossy screen. They said that they didn't think they had any, but they would check. They came back and said that they actually had one. I took it home and opened it up, and sure enough, it was the matte screen. I called Apple about it. They punched in the serial number and said, it is a glossy screen. I said, no it is not. He asked, "How do you know?" I was like, duh, I am looking at it?!?! Anyway, I was going to just stick with the matte, but I thought about if I ever had a screen issue, they would probablay say, this is not the stock screen, etc. So, they are sending out a return box to send in to have the screen swapped. They supposedly sent it overnight on Wednesday, but I still have not received it. :(

Typing this from the iBook, which doesn't seem that much slower (well, as long as I'm just running one or two apps and not try anything stupid, like using Photoshop and/or AirTunes. For just Firefox and TextWrangler it's just fine. Nice backup machine for my MacBook... :)
