I clicked on one of those ads that looks sketchy, but given that I would love to stop (a) would love to stop using my noisy emac and get a macbook instead and (b) don't have money, I was rather willing to be tempted by an offfer of a free macbook. I clicked on the ad which brought me to http://www.**************.com

I read the terms and conditions, which basically say that you have to do one of their offers, and after doing that get 18 other people to do an offer (they have to actually do it, be from a different IP address, and have a different mailing address). One easy looking one is to sign up for AOL for a 90 day free offer. As long as you cancel, I don't see the harm. Obviously the hard part is getting 18 people to play along with you--I don't think I even know that many people. And I think they would be pretty pissed if I asked them to sign up with a sketchy website Anyway....say I was able to do it theoretically...does anyone know if this site is legit? If it is I think it would be worth it. ????????

Seeing that my post has been edited out...I am guessing that people have had problems with this company?

From the rules:

MacRumors does not condone pyramid schemes (e.g. free iPods or Macs if you refer X number of people). Members who post referral links to these sites will have their posts/signatures edited and may be subject to banning. New members who post solely for this purpose will be immediately banned.

Ahh good to know.....yes I do see that it is a pyramid scheme...I had no intention of recruiting anyone from this forum. I was more interested in knowing if it is a legitimate pyramid scheme, but obviously I have no way of asking without specifying the name of the company which is censored or by breaking the spirit of that rule by relating the name by deftly replacing letters with symbols, which I have no intention of doing as I assume Macrumors doesn't want a discussion of this topic. Feel free to delete this thread.

Well, they may be able to give u a free MacBook (or insert another popular gadget name here), but there's still no free lunch in this world! :)

I'd be damned if I start getting spammed with "Win a free lunch!" in my mailbox now... LOL

Do you really think a system where you get a free MacBook ie $1000 piece of kit for doing jack all is legit?

Aside from well known company competitions...
