Hey all, I couldn't find this in the forums --

Is there a way to customize the MacRumors page so that if you have no interest in "Digital Video" or "iPod and iTunes" you don't have to see those forum topics? Since there is a login, I figured you could customize this somehow.

You can go into User CP > Edit Options. There is an option to exclude certain forums when searching for new posts. I've never used it so I'm not too sure how it works, but you could give it a try. :)

See Forum_Tips_and_Tricks (http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:MacRumors_FAQ#Forum_Tips_and_Tricks) in the FAQ.

Just noticed there's a typo there.

Separated, not seperated. :p

Reflex proofing. Sorry. :o

Yeah, that's only when "searching" for new posts -- I was hoping to remove it from the start page.

I just spent the last five minutes trying to find the seperated in my post and was about to ask you what you were talking about. Then I realised what you meant. :o :D

It's late...

A screenshot may have been helpful. I want to eliminate certain topics in "Recent Comments" from showing when I open the MR homepage. For example, let's say I never wanted to see "Buying Tips" -- can that be removed? I tried putting in "Buying Tips" in the "Exclude Forums" box (see above for screenshot) but it did nothing.

I believe the simple answer is No.

From what I remember, the main page is not dynamically generated every time you load it. It is generated periodically as a static page, in order to cut down on server resources. That would prevent any type of customization, since everyone is pulling the same static page off of the server.

I believe sharky is correct, as usual.

That makes sense -- thanks for the answer! :)
