I just tried putting in a DVD movie into my Macbook to test it out, but it keeps failing. DVD player opens and when i press any play options (play, stop, menu, eject...) i get a "supported disc not available" message. The dvd does not appear on my desktop, or anywere for that matter. I can play it when i open VLC player and do a "open file" and click on the disc option, so its not like my DVD player is broken. I just dont understand why OSX isnt recognaizing it. I've tried a couple different DVDs (all fairly new: Catch me if you can, Oceans 11, Orange County...none of them scratched much if at all) and the same thing happens for all of them. Help!

EDIT: i guess it needed a restart. I restarted it and everything works fine now. Kind of strange.

My guess is that it has to do with the copyprotection on the dvds. I have tried a few different discs that all have the little protection mark on them -and they wont play at all.

Oddly my old powerbook with at combo-drive has no problem at all...

Does anyone know if there is an applicable firmware that can fix it?
