Rosetta speeds... How fast will PS CS2 run on an Intel?

Just wondering. I mean, I know I'm going Intel already, just wondering what I can expect. Will Photoshop run extremely slow, or at an acceptable speed? Keep in mind that I'll be jumping from an 800MHz G4 with 512MB RAM to a 2GHz Core Duo/2GB RAM...
 
I haven't used Photoshop, but I used InDesign on my MacBook Pro and it ran kinda slow. Then I used it on the G5 iMacs at my school. Whizzed by my MBP. But when CS3 comes out, different story I hope.

Yes, but you're comparing it to a G5. I'm using a slow G4.
And yeah, CS3 will be Universal, so it's gonna be fast.
 
I'd be very surprised if it ran any slower, then how it currently runs for you. Having 2GB of RAM will make an immense difference, not to mention the faster processor. 🙂

No I know. I was stating how I had noticed the difference. You probably won't notice much of a difference at all.
 
Kinda like something between a 733mhz-1ghz G4 by my own messing around on a friend's machine. Hardly scientific... but you get the idea.

I think thats a slight under egging from my experience. With 2gb it is usable although 'laggy' for most users. It was definitely faster than my old 1ghz emac then again probably not as fast as my old 1.5ghz 15inch PB - so i would say in between 1.5 and 1.25 ghz

If you want to earn a living however, it will be too slow.

Best to be pessimistic in these cases I think. He or she will then get a pleasant surprise when it screams through work like a 1.25 G4. 😀
