Hi

I have a nice 18 mth old G4 aluminum Power book whose only method of booting is with Ctrl+Option+F+O pressed down for about 10-15 seconds.
The screen remains blank for another 15 seconds after which the normal boot screens begin appearing. Then it boots up as normal if a little slower. I think the slowness is due to a bad back up clone of the system. One up and running everything works. I would love to hear an explanation as to whats happening, or any possibel other fixes. Booting with C or T pressed does not work.

It strange but after joining this forum, I am beginning to think the parts are worth more than the whole.

Suggestion / Advice welcome.

thanks

Colm

You may wanna try booting to a restore DVD (put disc in computer, boot up, hold down C while booting), and run the Apple hardware test, for what it's worth. Also, use disk utility to repair permissions and verify the disk.

If all else fails, re-install the OS. That should do it.
