Nice one. The 1GB should serve you really well.
Should you decide to run Parallels to run Windows in a virtual machine, I would recommend getting that second 1GB stick of RAM. If not, what you have should run OS X and even a Boot Camp of XP brilliantly.
Congrats!

Nice. My iMac is a @#$%ing beauty. Not a spot of trouble and the fans only roar during firmware upgrades :-P

Perfect configuration. I have a 17" iMac with 1x1GB and the 160GB HDD, and it suffices for me, but a bigger hard drive is always useful.
Congratulations on the purchase, and if you have any questions we would be glad to answer them.

Imac has grown up into a decent computer, for years Apple would handicap these things GPU's as to move folks up to powermac but now the Current iMac is a pretty decent machine, Fast CPU, good middle grade GPU, enough memeory and a decent screen. IF they had made these two years ago I would have bought one instead my Aurora. Congratulations.

congrats, I think the 17" imac is one of apple's best offerings in terms of value ever (the base macbook is also up there!). It's quite the gorgeous machine and will serve you very well for a long time. Enjoy!

Congrats and welcome to the club!! You won't be sorry. I switched over a year ago and have two macs now, and looking to a third. There's a lot of good people here to help you out you just have to ask.

Congrats :D
I'm still thinking to whether i should wait for the new iMac with Intel Core Duo 2 Chip or just buy this one?

i had the same dilema too but i don't think this imac couldn't do anything that i wanted. a small speed dump won't make me wait longer and i don't think 64bit processors are necessary for a non-pro user. so i got it now and will enjoy it in a few days.
