ok, forced to go to the basement to take pictures for the collectors forum earlier, and found this lurking in the corner...

8600, sonnet g3/450 pci upgrade card, 256mb of 5v (yeah baby!) ram, floppy, zip, 2gb scsi hd, and....wait for it... 4mb of video vram!

have no idea. most of this is to old to even check on ebay, and that is saying something.

any interest? buy the upgrade card, and get the tower for free! was running 9 last i knew, and would be happy to remove/sell parts to save on shipping!

any offers welcome. references here and on ebay available to well qualified applicants...;)

oops. paypal, or USPS money order only please. oops again. i don't have a os 9 disk to include, so the hard drive would be wiped prior to shipping. screen shots of a functional system to any person/persons strange enought to want this.

You sure it's not a 9600? According to apple-history.com the 8600 had 8 RAM slots, and the 9600 has 12.

 I only count 8. A bank of 5, then a bank of 3.

8 ram slots it is (5+3), and 4 'little' vram slots toward the back. the other major difference between this and 9600 were the pci slots. this has 3, 9600 has 6. you can see the case openings/blanks below the motherboard. there were also variations in the power supply based on which processor you bought. this was originally a 8600/300.

yep. pulled working. swap it back in and boot just to test if you are interested.I know some one who was interested in a set up like mine... Rhapsody doesn't work with upgrade cards but runs beautifully on my 8600/300 (and the 4 MB of VRAM helps out a lot too).

I'll see if he is still interested.
