Purchased a MacBook yesterday from the Trafford Centre, Manchester,UK and it is working well with no issues. It has a serial number that shows it is a week 21 model and I wonder if any changes/revisions have taken place because it is not exhibiting any symptons that have been reported (as of yet:p ). I also stuck in a 1gig stick courtesy of that ebay seller Flashman and that also seems to be fine (Adata brand). It was some job sticking it in mind:o ).

One happy machappy customer here.

My black week 20 MacBook is perfect. Sometimes it moo's (very hard to hear) when it is doing something a bit more intensive but it is rarely happening.

Very very happy chappy here.

What typically intensive task(s) would you be referring to that seem to bring on the mild mooing? Thanks.

That is a matter of computers imitating humans. Listen more carefully ... are you sure it is going "Mooooo" and not "Ahhhhhhh"?"

If Apple gets word of MacBooks moaning while owners watch porn, we can soon expect a $300.00 increase in the base price.

How can you tell the build week from the serial number?

Mine "purrs" like a cat for about two or three seconds every other minute when I've got four or five apps running. This only occurs when running OS X - not when running Win XP.
It sounds as if the optical drive motor takes a little spin whenever it feels like... :D
Maybe this is just a variation of the "mooing"....?
