We've reached 2 500 000.
The honour goes to lexbollmora (http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?u=74892), who posted the milestone post with his/her 4th post ever over in the Macbook + external monitor (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=2500000#post2500000) thread.
Congratulations to lexbollmora specially and all members at MR generally! ;)

I think this is just even more proof of what a fantastic community we have here at MR, thanks especially to Arn, the Gods and the Mods!
Here's to the next 2,500,000! :)

Yeah... but that doesn't include deleted posts.
This, for example, is post 2,500,125.
BTW, were it not for mad jew's posts and replies to them, we'd still be at 2,000,000.

technically yes you are correct, but if you hover you're mouse over the post number on any post in any thread, you'll see a number down in the status bar, providing the status bar is open on safari and the like.... but anyways... that number is the number of the post throughout the site including some that are not typically counted in the method that you shown.
Why should deleted posts count?
They do not count in the official total. However, as noted by Mitthrawnuruodo, members have hit the 'Reply' button over 2.5 million times.

I'm going with "official numbers", as plenty of my "replies" should not be counted. :)

I read the thread title as two 500 000 posts, think that you were making a thread about mad jew and ~Shard~ both having that many posts each.
:D
I'm serious, I really thought that.

Didn't a forum do that for April Fools? Put a "Do Not Push" button on the main page. All people that clicked it got banned for the day. :p

They do not count in the official total. However, as noted by Mitthrawnuruodo, members have hit the 'Reply' button over 2.5 million times.Technically, not correct. You hit the 'Reply' button when replying to an existing thread, but to create a new thread (which also counts as a new post), you click 'New Thread'. ;)

And to nitpick further, I posted this with my MR Widget which incidentally, hacks into Dictionary, finds my most commonly typed words and reposts them in all threads it finds. I love being efficient (although inherently off topic). :)

Hey! Can you send me a copy of that widget? Then maybe some day I too can reach 5,000 posts! :D I always wondered how you did it.

Sure, just don't leave it on overnight or you might get banned. :p

No, I meant what I said. I was including those times when the server was essentially down and people would click over and over with no response. ;)
But thanks for bringing up other cases.

Nope, I do it all the time as well. :o
Particularly when I'm thinking about offering someone help or advice and then decide I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I knew you had to be cheating! I always wondered why you were often telling people to reset permissions when it just didn't make sense (i.e., when asking for girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse advice or when lamenting about the latest social scandal, etc, etc, etc).

I suspect that was a test post by one of the gods logged in as someone else.
Anyway, 2.5 million already?! Before we'll know it, it'll be time for yet another avatar competition or something similar.

I do it all the time. Usually I write a whole bunch first, then realize I sound dumb, so I delete what I said and end up not posting at all. :o
Anyway, congrats to MR, and I must say, when I saw this title I thought it was refering to Mad Jew's post count as well...I guess all he needs is time...

I do that all the time, which is why I only have 350 posts. I am on here daily reading most of your new posts, etc., but I just rarely post myself. Maybe, at this rate, I can have one of those neat avatars by late next year. I am, however, grateful for all of your posts, because they keep me entertained throughout the day. Hurray for 2.5 mil.

Sweet. I had no idea MR was so close. BTW, mad jew has currently 14.627 posts. He joind April 3rd, 2004, and has 18.23 posts per day:eek: :D . By the time I get this posted he'll probably have 15.000:p .
BTW, those avatar contests seem cool how do you make avatars, or is that impossible for a n00b like me?

How is it supposed to be anything else?
Post 1 is the admin system test. At that point everyone else on the planet is a newbie to the forum since everyone's post count is zero...

I think it was meant in jest with a certain amount of tounge-in-cheek nod towards the often derisory nature that noobs suffer from;)
