Last Sunday (4th June) a group of friends and me went to see Bon Jovi play on thier Have A Nice Day stadium tour in Manchester, UK. It was fantastic and was my first "big band" concert!

Not sure how many of you are Bon Jovi fans but I just thought I'd shre it with all you fab people.

It was held at the City of Manchester Stadium (what was used for the Commonwealth Games, and is now Manchester City Football Ground!...Google Earth it, you can see it under construction!).

They were supported by Nickelback and some other local band who won a radio contest to play. Nickelback were really good as well, their lead singer is a bit of a nutter and came up with the idea to us air cannons to fire Nickelback T-shirts into the crowds just to pass the time!

Gates opened around 4.30pm, but Bon Jovi themselves didn't come up until around 8/8.30pm. I was impressed with their ability to just play and play and play top-notch stuff without even pausing for a rest (apart from a quick costume change after about 45 mins).

At the end they said their goodbyes and left. All the lights went out and the stage began to be cleared by the stage crew, as you can guess the whole stadium chanted "ENCORE!" and "WE WANT MORE!", but after what seemed like at least 5 mins they still didnt come back! Ofcourse they did and played another 8 or so songs! Then they said goodbye for the second time, at whichc stage some people began to file out, then suddenly they came back again...again...and played yet another 5-8 songs none-stop. At this point I didn't think we were ever going home and they would play all night.

I know I probably sound quite lame to all you people used to these performances and who have probably seen better, but it was my first and really enjoyed it!

Got some pictures on my website. www.andrewshaw.net/bonjovi (www.andrewshaw.net/bonjovi)
I appologise for the poor quality but they were on my RAZR as I didn't take my proper camera thinking it might either be stolen or confiscated, but everyone else seemed to have their proper cameras! Ah well!

That's because no one in their right mind would buy one... heheh, if the potential for decapitation wasn't so high, I bet they'd have been firing out CD's too. heheh.

My sister in-law went to see Bon Jovi with her sister on Wednesday at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, they left half an hour before the end... they're fans but they weren't especially impressed, not necessarily the band, just the size of the gig... just too big I think.

Can't say I like them myself... and I hate stadium gigs, glad you enjoyed it though. ;)

I like Bon Jovi quite a lot, but have never seen them live!! That must have been awesome! I really like stadium gigs - you just can't beat them. Bands are so much better live, and the atmosphere is overwhelming - how can you not like them iGav! Man, you're missin out on the high life.

Absolutely! They were very good. They got the crowd going and got a great atmosphere going, what more can you ask for?!

I know a lot of people who are going to see them while they are in the UK, but all I can say is that the Manchester Stadium gid was outstanding.

I heard great things about this show.

I went to see Bon Jovi a couple of summers back at Giants Stadium for the bounce tour. It was incredible because it was pouring rain. Just added alot to the atmosphere you know?

In November I saw them at Madison Square Garden and that was crazy too.

And July 29th I will see them at Giants again for the finale of the tour. I have two tickets to the 19th show since Im not going if anyone wants to buy them ;)
