I'm new to website design and I'm working on a website for a small business I'm starting but rather than just having Whatever.com it's whatever.com/htm for the main page. how can I fix this? Thanks!

umm it's hard to say just based on that vague description, do you have a link?
My first guess would be to make sure your homepage is named index.htm

yes, you'd be right in that guess. The site is www.KalnsStudios.com/index.htm
I want it to simply be www.KalnsStudios.com

Looks like if you move "index.htm" to "index.html", it should work.

Your Web server setup determines which pages are the default ones that are loaded when a directory is opened with no file specified. Read the documentation from your web host, or speak with their support department.

I just gave it a shot and the page doesn't come up at all when I change it.

It seems to be working now. Although you have a bunch of broken images.

I sent an email to my web host asking about it but I probably won't hear back until tomorrow or later. I appreciate all your help though. for the time being I switched it back to .htm just so I could access the page and mess around with the design.
