Is there a way to get Final Fantasy VII to play under XP SP2? It keeps crahing to the desktop even with that 1.3 XP Patch.

I've had the exact same problem. I dug out an old copy of Windows 98 for my PC and while it's not ideal, it works.

Why not just emulate the PS1 version using ePSXe?

Because FFVII is like still atrociously priced and I have the PC version.

Really!? I picked up a used copy of FF7 for PS1 about 5 years ago for $5 USD! :D

Now that used game retailers are trying to clear out their PSX stock and because they know that games like FFVII sell the moment they come in (or soon after) so now you'll see FFVII sell for more like $20

Regardless, if you already own it once, any price is too much.

Unless of course, the one you own doesn't work, heh.

I have never seen FF7 priced that high myself, nor have I seen game shops even selling PS1 games (in store) for a long while. I was just in EB Games a few days ago and even Xbox games were selling very cheap. Deus Ex 2 for $4, Unreal Championship 2 for $5, Crimson Skies for $5, and even Jade Empire for $12.

Heck, I just picked up Beyond Good & Evil for GameCube for $15! A might cheaper then even the Amazon retailers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00009ZVI0/ref=dp_olp_2/102-2132428-3288145?%5Fencoding=UTF8). I already owned the PC version, but no gamepad support really ruined the game for me.

Perhaps the game shops around here are just way better then anywhere else! :D

I saw a copy of FFVII PSone for $28 or $30. :-/

I may wait for something like Qemu or something and install my old Win98 on it. That's a lota work for one game though.

since the movie came out, there have been a lot of requests for the game...on ebay they have been going for some pretty damn high prices lately...
