It seems that a London art museum, upon receiving an artist's sculpture, chose to exhibit the support post instead of the actual artwork. The support post was better!

I'm normally a supporter of modern art and it's various conceptualisations, but this is just stupid. I was going to quote excerpts from the article but there were too many to chose from that were all too baffling.

Having said all that, the stand does look as though it might make a nice foot massager.:)

Maybe this is a whole new genre of art: "accidental art" I mean, you could argue that with the mistake being made, the support is now a piece of art that comments aboutt he art community. I there's some similar ideas when an artist actually picks out an everyday object and displays it without modification.

This reminds me a bit of something that happened when I was at college. A student made an installation piece for an exhibit that was basicallly just a bunch of beer bottles. The janitor didn't know that and threw them all out. The student wasn't too upset though; he had to drink another twelver of beer to recreate his piece.

Reminds me of a commercial I see occasionally for woodworking freaks like myself where a guy is looking at a display for an intricately carved wooden egg, when another guy walks over to look at it, but is distracted by the beautiful tiger maple stand that the egg is sitting on...

I went to the Tate in London a few years back and there was a video of a naked man, dancing around in a pantry, wearing boxing gloves and a (full head) richard-nixon-burgler mask, and he proceeded to squirt chocolate or BBQ sauce or something on himself, spreads it around, and then proceeds to play with himself. It would repeat every 2 minutes or so.

Now THAT'S art.

Amen. I think that it shows that there was a mistake on the artist's part in submitting the main subject. And holier than thou "judges" decided to make him a mockery for not understanding the submission paperwork - instead of outright rejecting it.

Shame on those "judges".

Don't see what the big deal is.

The square is beautiful.

The laughing head is boring and trying too hard to believe that meaning exists.
