I have two questions...is there any good voice recording [free] software for osx? And also, does the macbook have an internal mic in it?

Yes, the macbook has a built-in mic.

You could use GarageBand to record audio.

What features / functionality would you consider "good" voice recording software to have? GarageBand can record your voice, using the built-in mic, and both come with the MacBook.

Audacity is a good free sound app. Do a search on VersionTracker. Built in mic is alright.
