Miscategorized. This isn't a game...
Sounds dangerous, actually.

"We are focused on high-end gaming at the moment, though we will support other applications in the future."
Their forum is really annoying me though. You try to open a link in a new tab, and it also replaces the current tab!

Oops. I skipped that introductory paragraph and dove into the "we're so much better than WINE" flowchart.

C coding for high-end gaming if I read it correctly which is why I labelled it under "games"

Wow, this is a simply brilliant idea. If the army of open-source programmers can get it working (I would love to contribute, but I don't have experience in this particular field of programming), it will even further reduce the need for Mac OS X and Linux users to run Windows for some odd application. In fact, this solution would also remove the need for Boot Camp if it worked perfectly...but it wouldn't replace Boot Camp, as it would still serve a useful purpose.
This will be great for high-end games, but it will also work with just about any other Windows application you can throw at it given the converter library and all the other libraries it needs.

Thats funny, as the open source project is about a week old and already has proof of concept Windows EXEs running.

When they get a "high end game" working, you let me know and I'll stand corrected.

We used to say Alky for an Alcholic.
It's a great idea, if it works reliably. It sounds like a huge amount of work, especially with dynamic libraries but good for them, if it actually is successful.

Has anyone been able to successfully convert an exe. file
to a binary using Alky?

For this product, right now, anyway.
Once you're recompiling one binary to run on another platform, there's no reason why you can't also recompile it for another processor - much like what Rosetta does in "just-in-time" fashion.
Of course, that kind of recompilation is difficult, and you will take a performance hit. But, depending on what the quality of existing open-source x86 emulation software, it should be possible. (A commercial recompilation package, like the Transitive product Apple uses for Rosetta could also work, but no open source group is going to incorporate a large body of commercial code, even if it can afford the license fees.)

Not only is this unnecessary but it should prove to be rather impossible.
It reminds me of the cherry os claims ...
