View Full Version : OS still included with system purchase?

I want to install an additional hard disk drive in a new PowerMac and install OS 10.2 on that disk. Can I assume that the complete OS 10.2 is included on CD-ROM in the box and that all I have to do is insert the disc and boot the system with that disc?

Yeah, any time you buy a Mac, it'll ship with either a basic system disk or else a "software restore" disk. My iMac came with a Software Disk that I can boot from and install OS X, and it also has all the software (iDVD, AppleWorks, etc.) that came with the computer.

i am almost 100% positive that new machines come with the OS install disc.

They do, and they also come with a set of restore CD's that include all the little extras that you get with that model machine. Whereas the install disks are just standard OS X install disks and the Dev Tools
