View Full Version : Lap/Desk type of thing for laptop?

This is more of an accessory than a peripheral, but it seems like it belongs here.

I'm looking for something, if they make it, almost like a tray table so that I can use my laptop with a mouse while sitting on my couch. I do a lot of video editing on my lappy, which you can't really do without a mouse. I'd like to be able to do this while relaxing on my couch.

I guess what I'm thinking about is almost one of those "breakfast in bed" types of trays you see on tv shows (since no one actually does that in real life).

Does anyone make this kind of thing for a computer? Thanks to anyone that can help.

I think it's too small to allow use for an external mouse...

I know my wife has a portable desk type thing, that has the bean-bag cushion thing going on underneath it to put on your lap. If I remember correctly, it seems to have a significantly larger surface area to work with than the iLap.

EDIT: A few of the items on this page are similar to what my wife has... http://www.stacksandstacks.com/html/product505_0.htm

I was looking at this item:

But 100$ seems a bit steep to me.

Search Amazon using "lap desk"... comes up with all of the ones on that stacksandstacks site. Though that wooden desk you linked is still $99.95 on Amazon.

I use this (http://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATES/PRODUCT/Product.asp?Params=Category=5-24|PageID=1096|Level=2-3|Link=PI|special=search|ID=SearchClicked|i=1) with my 15" PB and a small Radtech BT500 mouse.
They have other models, all somewhat reasonably priced.

Macally ice pad. Made back in the day for Tibooks, with grooves for airflow, you can use it as a lapdesk as well as fold it up on the desk for a stand. I believe there is enough room plus a rubberized side pad for a mouse on either side. Using one now on the desk. 20 bucks edu at University store.
