Block IP ranges

Is there anyway I can block IP ranges. Say I only want a certain IP, for example I only want 172.16.1.38 to come through my computer. Is there a way to block all the IP's from 0.0.0.0 to 172.16.1.37 and 172.16.1.38 to 255.255.255.255?

Any possible way with just the built in firewall or any other firewalls such as Flying Buttress? Or is it possible with terminal?

yes, but use flying buttress. however, if you can configure a cisco router or such, it shouldn't be that much different than an ACL in terminal. the guide to do it without flying is below.

btw don't block 127.0.0.1

Couldn't you just specify in system preferences>networking to use DHCP with manual address. That is what i do for my computers at home to make sure i get the numbers i want for each computer.

now that i read your response. my answer was incorrect. you are right, you just have to assign yourself a static ip address or setup your dhcp server to assign that specific ip address to your mac address.
