what's your definition of a hardass?
personally, i see someone like mc68k... the guy's a college computer science student. and yet he has the balls to piss off his teachers.
this guy is somewhat of a hero to me. and it's only a matter of time before he pisses off another teacher.
i aspire to be like him, not only in his hardassness, but also his nerdiness.
that said, what qualities to you consider to be "hard"? is it going up to someone and beating them? is it pissing off teachers? is it smoking a cig and when someone asks you to put it out, you put it out... on their face?
what's the toughest thing you've ever done? what's the toughest thing you've ever seen someone do?
one time i wrote a poem about some friend of a girl i had the hots for. it was totally trashing him. he found out and called me out at a basketball game. so i brought my teacher out with me to protect me from him. as he talked to me, all up in my face, i pissed myself. hence the beginning of the political party of the future
share your experiences.

uh... okay, this is going to sound weird. i slapped a guy threatening to commit suicide hard enough to dislocate his jaw.
it was an accident, i swear!
'course, then he left me for being 'abusive'.

I didn't really think of it as running away, I guess that's why I
thought he was being a hardass. I just thought he was leaving

My Definition would be Red from "That Seventies Show"
I also had some teachers I would consider hard asses. Basically someone who is stubborn to the nth degree. Who is in-flexible.
Sorta like Drill sergeants in the army....

I wouldn't go so far to say a person who doesn't care...I mean...I just don't give a sh*t half the time anymore but I'm one of the easiest people to get along with...
I'd say it's the type who puts up a fight on things...maybe has a stubborn temperment...has a mouth that gets under people's skin...
I think it's an attitude...and u can tell the fakes from the real mccoy ;)

Pink is a hardass too. Now some people are gunna say she does
her whole 'I don't give a ****' thing, but isn't actually a hardass,
but after watching and reading a lot of stuff about Alicia Moore,
I am convinced that she is a hardass.

diorio threw a sucker punch and ran. simple as that. it's not hardass to throw out stupid insults and then run off
speaking of drill sargeant types.... check out terry tate (aka mighty rasta) is on malcolm in the middle this weekend as a drill sargeant. and he is DEFINITELY a hard ass... probably my second in command.

i take the stairs every day. i work on the forth floor of my building and i park on the 5th floor of a parking structure at school. so needless to say i get a lot of stair climbing in every day. not to mention all the walking around campus.
what pisses me off is when i take the elevator and i see all these old or fat people letting the elevator pull their fat ass up the floors. they can't even carry their own backpack, they have those stupid rolling luggage racks. they'll take it one floor, or just 2 floors and waste my time at the university. like they go out of their way to be fat, lazy, and old.
so whenever i get in the elevator i make it a point to waste their time, and motivate them to walk up the stairs! ...by pushing all of the elevator buttons. my favorite is when i have a elevator button pushing war where the people run to the elevator (mind you they don't run anywhere else) in hopes that ill let them in. then when i get up to the top floor i hit all the buttons so that they have to wait 5 minutes, just like i have countless times.
you'd think they could be helping their fat selves every day by showing a little motivation, but i'm only one person. maybe they'll get trapped in an elevator one day...

Lets see. Think of it this was. 4 years in Nam, 6 with the CIA, 20 years as a cop. He is Titus's dad, and Red Foreman rapped into one.
Here, this is a good example. When I was 7 I played little league baseball. I was afraid of the ball and would cower from it. So, he tied me to the side of our barn, and gave me a cup, and a catchers mask. He proceed to beam me with baseballs for about 30 minutes. Then told me, it may hurt, but it won't kill you. You know what? Was never affraid of the ball again!

Wow, I don't know. He was trying to teach me to be tough. He did not inflict any major harm, and he helped me toughen up. So, probably.
He is just mean. When he was a cop, he would tell people that were going to fight him three things would happen 1) They would loose the fight. 2) They would go to jail, and 3) they would go via the local hospital. I watched him split a guys skull open with a Mag Lite flashlight onetime.

I was like 15. I was like, damn, dad is a hardass. Actually, though 3 years later, I had a mometary loss of intelligence, and though i could take the old man in an arguement. I put up the dukes, and dared him to hit me. He did. Next thing I knew I was waking up. He hit me so hard it lifted me off the ground, and over the dog house. Remember too, I am 6'4 at that time, and 220.
Yea, he proved his point. To this day, would not argue with that man.

wow. that rules... it's like spit the blood... pause... the dude thinks he's getting away with just some blood on his face.. and then WHAM! his ass is beaten
another good example for me. my roommate
he found out his girlfriend has been doing some **** behind his back and lying about it (not cheating, just getting hammered with some dude, whatever).... so what does he do? he punches the wall. his hand swells up. badass. why? because beating a girl is NOT tough. but he beat the wall.... outstanding.

My aikido instructor is a hardass, she's 5'2" tall, and spends her time kicking the living s**t out of a bunch of genuinly big men, I've never seen her sweat, let alone exert herself...:D
I'm 6' tall and around 195, and I'm the smallest in our current training group, Alison chooses to train with the guy everyone calls "big" Dave ("f*****g huge" Dave would be more accurate...) and I never get used to seeing him hit the mat with a dazed expression on his face:D
Alison is one of the kindest people I know, and I want her on my side in a fight.

I'm insulted, diorio didn't even mention me! Maybe I'm just a quiet guy...
Some guy at my school got beat up because he f*cked a football player's girlfriend. The guy's brother is coming down to kick the football player's ass...
I can't really think of many other instances where people are hardasses...
Actually, there is one of my friends... He was showing off in his pansy-@$$ ford ranger, and he fishtailed, and ended up in somebody's yard. He was stuck, and I had to pull him out with my 4WD 4cyl Toyota pickup. I couldn't stop laughing. This happened months ago, and he still gets pissed off when I talk about it... It's not my fault he got stuck.
I have been known to be a very sarcastic person, but that's something else...

I lent my TI-86 to a girl in one of my classes, and she lost it or got it stolen. She also graduated 2nd in her class, and I never got anything back from her. She tried to make it seem like it was my fault, and I told her that the only thing I did wrong was lend it to her...

i was going to make this a thread, but i thought i could post here and save time. ha
a few things. first, i will discuss one thing i can remember where i was a pseudo hardass.... pseudo
i was at a boy sets fire show (about 3 years ago) with my girlfriend (though she wasn't at the time), and a friend of mine. me and my girlfriend were standing about middle, left. with about a person buffer between myself and the mosh pit. with her to the outside of me. some idiots were kicking and bouncing around and hitting into us, and i just held my ground and pushed them away when they nearly were kicking us in the head and such. don't get me wrong, i expect a pit at such a show, but that doesn't necessarily make it "right"... so of course these tough guys were staring me down and telling their "boys" about me and stuff. but they did nothing about it. so we left after a good show (sense field also played that night, so how can one go wrong?)
that leads me to 2 reasons i hate people which got me pissed at a concert last night and i need to vent:
1. i was standing there before the band came on and heard some girls talking about an upcoming show in nj for the same band... but the one girl was like "but that place doesn't have a liquor license".. and the other "ohhhh"... "we should bring our flasks"... etc. ok. so people want to drink at the show. fine. whatever. i think it's dumb but it doesn't affect me. but when people go to the extent of not wanting to support the band because the place won't be able to get them liquored up? that's just pathetic... i'll accept that some people like booze to help make a night more fun. but to NEED it? sad.
2. as the lights go down, 2 people make a very very strong push towards the center of the stage... to the point of being overly rough and rude.... i hold my ground, they don't really get past me. unfortunately they end up beside me... so this dude proceeds to move around so much that he effectively creates his own mosh pit, "dancing" around in such a manner more fitting to an eminem type performer, on stage. now, this show is NOT a boy sets fire show, this is toad the wet sprocket! for those of you not familiar... think of like better than ezra or whatever. somewhat mellow rock and roll band.
so he is dancing around, elbowing me as he does so. he is so emotionally enthralled by each song that it's amazing. he screams the words louder than even the singer using a mic could really do. so where this bothers me is that his "enjoyment" of the show is taking away heavily from my own enjoyment, and i'm sure the people in front, behind and to the other side of him. but
the good news is that glen phillips has this aura about him... similar to that of jon bunch from sense field... he's just happy. and so watching him sing and enjoying the music was still worthwhile, and still keeps me positive about humanity, despite the idiocy that is so apparent.

Hardass: Esteban Trueba from House of the Spirits (hated it). he built his family hacienda up from nothing, with brute force and determination, working his tenants to the max, striking fear into the hearts of everyone in the region with his intemperate moody wrath, and raping 15-year-old peasant girls periodically. he was also a vehement anticommunist who defrauded the votes of his tenants and generally contributed to the rule of the landed gentry in his country.

The most hardass thing I've ever seen was my buddy Dave rip his underpants off at a Lords of Acid concert, without taking his pants of. But, the hardass part is when he threw them onstage and the toady that was out to annouce the band smelled them (thinking they were a woman's) and loudly proclaimed "they're still warm!" That guy was a hardass and didn't even know it!
The most hardass person I knew was a guy I worked with. 6'6" probably about 350. Black belt in several martial arts. I watched him crush a metal shot jigger with his teeth. When he urinated it sounded like someone turning on a faucet full blast for exactly two seconds. I speculate is urethra is about 2" in diameter.
I've got a similar story as Jelloshotsrule. I'm kind of a hardass when it comes to sticking up for people that can't do it for themselves. Used to beat on people on the bus that messed with the mentally retarded girl back in HS.
Anyways, at a show, in Urbana Illinois. The Didjits (about 8 years ago). Mosh pit is going me and my friends are having fun beating the crap outta one another. Chris, is near the front of the stage off to one side, but he's in a wheelchair. Drunk driver paralyzed him when he was just 18 months old. Well two dicks are standing on the edge of the pit shoving people in the back that come near them. They find it extremely funny to shove them toward Chris. When little dick number one finally gets into the pit after I taunt him he falls down and is sandwiched between the stage and a group of people. Seven kicks with my Panama sole jungle boots to the kidneys and he managed to stand. Six punches to the lower back and he and his buddy left. Ha!

Maybe he couldn't come back.;) The guest caption by his name could indicate that he can no longer post due to the content of his posts. While it was immature, it was humorous, and stirred up the forums for a little while. Hardass no, funny, yes.

Some of those he insulted didn't find it quite as funny.
I, sort of being insulted (he said I annoyed him at first, but I got
better  :( :D), don't mind at all, but some people did - I think.

he had some choice words in there that were just not necessary. insults can be funny. cheap laughs with key words are just that, cheap. and dumb.
if he were really funny, he'd have made something that'd have had everyone laughing, or at least been original and smart, not just dirty words.

Just be glad that he didn't insult you to the extent that some people would like to. (I've read many gruff posts against Scem0 in his earlier days and some people really don't like the poor guy). As for the other people being insulted, that was what he intended. He was a user that had been around macrumors for a while and knew how it worked. He intended that to be his last post and he knew the consequences. He was probably just sick of the anti bush, anti american sentiment that had been increasing, and increases still. Again, while not appropriate or mature, it was amusing, and stirred of the forums for a while, which I'm sure he also intended to do.

I believe the dirty words were place in there to give the result he wanted. He didn't care if he offended someone, no, indeed hoped for it, and used choice words to get the point across, which was, he really didn't like some of those users.

WOW...
That signature is bigger than a lot of your posts.
You may want to try shrinking it with
[ SIZE=1 ] text [ /SIZE ]
without the spaces of course ;)
