What's the difference between the one I bought and this one?

Well firstly yours has a broken LCD. Other than that, yours has a 117 MHz CPU, no video out, 12 MB of RAM, 750 MB of HD, and a (well, two actually, I threw in a second) floppy drive. This one is fully working, has video out, has a 133 MHz CPU, 16 MB of RAM, 1 GB HD and a 8x CD-ROM.

with hax, yes.

Yes, and possibly more memory, hard drive. Essentially more everything :P

Still, for nostalgia this'd be a fun little machine to own.

No, it will absolutely not run OS X. First it is limited by having a RAM ceiling of 64MB, and second it does not have PCI architecture, and instead has NuBus, so you won't even get close to installing OS X. That being said, it makes a great classic machine, and can run all the way up to OS 9.1, and 9.2.2 with hacks, though I reccommend OS 7.6.1

people have run OS X on 68k macs, it's possible, just not pretty.

Obviously, running OS X on that machine would be crazy, however I am looking for a good classic machine. Any chance of shipping to the UK?

Not without agonizingly slow virtualization technology.

I seem to recall the words 'unusable' somewhere in there, too. As in, "People have run OS X on 68k Macs, it's possible, just unusable."
;)

look over it, will it work with your specific machine? if it will, i might be interested. will you do a trade?

Yes, it definitely can do WiFi. I have done it and successfully. I have an Orinoco WaveLAN PCMCIA card that has drivers for Mac OS 7 and up. I can sell it to you along with the laptop if you like.

A remote possibility. Do you have any speakers you'd trade? I'm looking for JBL Creatures II or JBL Duets if you have those.

If you have no speakers to trade, then I rather cash - I'm in need of funds for the MacBook and a pair of speakers :)

I just bought some creatures ii, so i will not be trading them. But i am just letting you know, they are awesome!
I don't have any cash; I'm a kid and I'm broke, sorry. Good luck with the sale.

Not to be rude or anything, but what can a machine like that actually do, besides mabye word processing?

You do know that there's many out there who like old Macs. The PowerBook 1400 is considered by many to be one of the best laptops Apple ever made. Sturdy, awesome keyboard (as close to a desktop keyboard in a laptop as you get, and it even uses metal switches!), incredibly easy to upgrade. You can easily put in a 466 MHz G3 upgrade and watch it fly.

As for what you can do with it? AIM, web browsing, listen to music, play older games, and yes, word processing. About the same as what you can do with a old Pentium 150 PC. Remember those? Pretty damn capable for their day, and people definitely do more than just word processing back in 1996.

I hope I fixed your ignorance a bit... son.
