ok...so I just got my 17" iMac through B2TM yesterday...and spent 4 hours last night working on it...
I'm at a point now where I'd like to make a few minor alterations within the system...like with Tinkertool, for example...maybe just make my dock invisible, stuff like that...
I'm always a bit sketchy with using these apps with the latest versions of system software...so maybe u guys could give me the heads up on what works and does not?
thanks in advance ;)

If you like Show Desktop (http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=10005&db=mac), get the latest version. All of the Unsanity (http://www.unsanity.com/) stff works well. I've had no problems with ClearDock or any of those things.
The biggest problem I had was with OS X 10.2.1--immovable icons and the like. There were a few other little things that didn't work well at first, but that's done. I think the 17" iMac has been out long enough that most everything has caught up now.

10.2.5 Eh? I don't think that you'll have a problem with most of the utilities unless Apple does some major revamping under the hood.:o

I've got one of the new 17" iMacs with 10.2.4 and everything has worked very well. I have Transparent Dock installed and it works fine. I haven't looked at Tinkertool before, but I will ake a gander.
The only problem I have found so far is that you can't open System Profiler when there is 2 Firewire hard drives hooked up. I don't know why, but this is on the Apple message boards and I hope it will be fixed soon.
I haven't messed around with themes or anything, but other than that everything has been perfect.

Just keep an eye on VersionTracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/index.shtml) and read the user comments. They will usually know what doesn't work. Most of the people that comment there are incapable imbeciles that if it's going to break the system they will be the ones to do it.

I haven't had any issues with 2 firewire hard drives so far. My 120GB external is in slot 1, and my TiBook is in target disc mode in slot 2, profiler runs fine. Is this with chaining them?
So far I've run TinkerTool, which doesn't really do much for me. I also installed TransparentDock, which was smooth as a baby's ass. Everything is rocking so far... ;)
