View Full Version : How Long Do You Take In The Shower....

iGary
Jun 29, 2006, 07:53 AM
In the morning...?

I timed my significant other this morning and he took almost 40 minutes.

I think I may take like 10 (indluding shaving)...he needs to die.

You? I'm just trying to get a baseline for bitching at him next time he hogs the bathroom.

about 30 minutes... or longer

Spanky Deluxe
Jun 29, 2006, 07:57 AM
10-20 minutes. Depends on whether I shave or not. Shaving takes ages.

I get in, shampoo hair, bruth teeth, wash out hair, condition hair, shave, wash out conditioner, shampoo and condition body (instead of body wash), then rinse. However long that all takes. Occasionally if I'm in a nice shower (i.e. not my ones at home that are buggered at the mo) then I'll stand and day dream for a while and end up taking ages.

I timed my significant other this morning and he took almost 40 minutes (while I crossed my legs waiting for the toilet).

I hate that.

I say I take 5, 10 if there's hair washing or hair removal to be done (different types of hair, before you ask :p ).

It depends.

3-4 minutes usually. Longer if I need to do more to my hair than a quick rinse. It can be a while if I'm really tired and need to wake up.

Mitthrawnuruodo

Under 10 minutes for shower, grooming, brushing my teeth and getting dressed.

Add another 10 minutes whenever I'm shaving and trimming the (remains of my) hair.

CorvusCamenarum
Jun 29, 2006, 08:11 AM
Usually no more than ten minutes, add five for shaving purposes. The girlfriend, however, somehow manages to take twenty minutes on average, which I don't comprehend seeing as how there's a good deal less of her to wash than there is me. Luckily, our house has two bathrooms, so when she moved in I put her in the other one.

I usually do a quick shower, dry off and get some boxers on, and while I'm putting those on I ask him if he needs the john before I go back in to shave...is that difficult?

Argh. :)

LOL! I only wash my body with shampoo and conditioner because I don't like body wash or soap and don't want yet another bottle in the shower. I shampoo *and* condition my body because... I hate it when the levels aren't equal in the bottles!! :o I'm not hairy at all!!

About 10 for the shower and shave.
About half an hour with the tissue paper getting the blood off my face, then finding out I missed a bit and having to re-shave. Several times. Must get a bigger mirror, or one of those shaving mirrors.

Just as an aside, and not to start a political debate on this, but you men who shave in the shower - you realize what a tremendous waste of water that is, right? :)

Depends what I'm doing - or who I'm with ;) (yeah, right, I wish!)

If you mean in the actual shower itself then probably anywhere from 5 mins to 15 mins.

- some days are just a quick shower (body wash)
- most days involve washing hair too
- some days involve depilation and/or exfoliation
- occasional days involve more nourishing hair treatments which need to be left on longer...

If you mean in the shower room or getting ready in general then that's a *lot* longer! It's ok though, I don't have to share my bathroom :p

Just a thought but when I've been with an SO, neither of us ever bothered locking the bathroom so that if one of us got caught suddenly short, we could still nip into the loo without breaking down the door. Didn't do it as a matter of course but made life easier...

I don't think its that bad. The way I see it, if I were brushing my teeth or shaving in the sink I would let the water run while I do it (particularly if shaving) and it would take me longer to shave. When doing it in the shower I'm at least using that running water to clean myself at the same time.
When I said 10-20 minutes earlier that was a bad guess, its probably a lot shorter than that. I shave and brush my teeth in the shower because it always seemed the quickest most efficient way to do things, shampoo and conditioner are both supposed to sit in your hair for a minute or so before you wash it out, I use that time to brush my teeth or shave. Make sense?
It all comes from boarding school where we had to be in and out of the bathrooms as quickly as possible because so many people wanted to shower.

Two long showers a day is just greedy though! Well it is if you don't actually need it.

I take 2 a day, due to where I work I must take one after, and I have to be freshly showered beforehand as well. The before-work one is 10 minutes tops. The after work is usually 20, more if I gotta shave. If my roomie is right behind me, I'll trim it to 5 minutes. He'd kill me if he ever had to wait to use the potty. He'll go as far as to bust in and just go ahead and do his business. I don't mind the #1, but the #2 is just unacceptable. He did that once. I showered him with ice cold water the whole time. Now I just avoid it, if he's lurking about, by speed-showering, but when I can it's long luxurious showers for me.

Hmm, I've never actually timed it, but, if I had to guess,

10-15 minutes in the shower, four minutes to shave, 1 minute to make me smell nice, two minutes to brush my teeth, another four-five minutes to get dressed.

All in all, about 30 minutes to get ready.

That seems really bizarre to me. In our relationship we can share the bathroom at the same time. You know you're really comfortable with someone if you can hold a serious conversation whilst one of you is exfoliating their feet and the other one takes a dump :D

As for shower times, depends on how many showers I've already had that day. Anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes.

Ditto. I mean, my girlfriend and I can share the same shower, take turns w/ #1, dance around in each others' underwear - but there's no way #2 is happening with either one of us near by. We both go to complete opposite sides of the house for that :P

My wife gets mad at my showers too...hehe. I take two a day, 1 in the morning and 1 before I/we go anywhere at night. Also, 1 (cold shower) after a distance bike ride. So sometimes three a day.

Right now, I am trying to be respectful of the drought and not take as long, or only take one if I am not going anywhere else at night.

That said, my wife, when she is shaving her legs, and has to wash her hair (twice for some reason), takes forEVER.

Hm, 8 minutes in the shower (I like long hot showers - I'm slow to wake up in the morning), and another 3-7 depending if I shave... 3 for teeth and deoderant, another 4 if I shave (which I hardly ever do... I HATE shaving).

In that 8 minutes, btw, I ALWAYS wash my hair, it's very thick and gets oily if I don't. So, 11-15 minutes total? I can wake up 20 minutes before I leave for work and have to do all the bathroom stuff, get dressed, find my keys, etc, and leave on time.

My wife takes a minimum of 40 minutes just in the bathroom, another 15 to get dressed, and another 20+ to "ease into her day". Can't wait to move to a 2 bathroom house!

I generally do about 5 minutes - longer if I've just been exercising or something, or if I'm particularly sore or tired.

As for comfort factors - my wife and I get ready in the same bathroom. She'll #1 while I'm in there if she really needs to go, but never #2. I won't do either with her in the room except in extreme circumstances.

Of course, I have 4 toilets to choose from.

I take my time in the shower because that's my best "lost in thought" time. I do my best systems engineering designwork when there is nothing but a tile wall to look at, no computers, no TV, no phones, no people, just me and whatever programming problem I've been working on.

Usually 15. Sometimes more if I'm washing my hair extra well in preparation to dye it again, less if I need to leave 10 minutes ago.

Also, it can be more depending on my mood. If I'm angry, I can stay in the shower for 45 minutes. If I'm excited about going somewhere, I can be in and out in 3. :D

My hair is a different story... if I blowdry it, I can't straighten it. I don't know why, just doesn't.. work that way! So, if I want to straighten it, I have to let it air-dry. If I need to, I'll blowdry it and put it up. but I cannot blowdry and straighten.

My hair isn't curly, I just tend to look like a squirrel's tail when I wake up.

Who all #1's in the shower?

I have some type of mental block and can't but I know of people who do. (Never actually seen it though)
The first person to admit to this shall be nicknamed George for all eternity.
(I loves me the Seinfeld)

Personally, I can't do it. I just can't!

As a guy, it's easy, and most guys I know do this as well (whether or not they admit it is a different story).

Infact, I remember seeing a poll, which included women, showing the most who answered created their own "showers in the shower." :)

About 10 minutes to shower, add 5 minutes afterwards to brush teeth and shave.

I can happily shower with my girlfriend, but I feel awkward if I'm showering and she walks in, or if I walk in on her. Mine once walked in on me peeing (NOT in the shower, you sickos) and tried to hold a conversation with me, WHAT THE F*£&, WOMAN?! I'm peeing!

Nope... don't shower in the shower. Yuk! I see dirty washing water as 'cleaner' than sewage...

And I used to walk in on my boyfriend peeing and expect him to hold a conversation... but he'd do the same with me so I guess we were quits. Then again, our whole family are the same. With 3 women in the house and no guys, the bathroom door was rarely closed so we'd all chat in the bathroom/toilet when getting ready.

I never get between a woman and her "getting ready" time. Besides the results end up benefiting the guy anyway. And impatience in this matter doesn't get me out the door any faster. :D

My (morning) showers usually last enough to brew a full pot of coffee.

As someone who is a terrible morning-person, I have a routine down.

1. Get up.
2. Shuffle to kitchen and put on coffee
3. Shuffle to bathroom and get in shower, which is set to "super hot".
4. Stand motionless with head under spray for about a minute to feel alive.
5. Wash, rinse, repeat.
6. Turn shower all the way to cold, brace for impact, then dance around my shower in some sort of epiliptic fit.
7. Towel off, pad to kitchen and pour coffee.
8. Sit down in my Living room and drink coffee (sometimes have a smoke).
9. Now reasonably awake, I go back to the bathroom to style hair, shave etc.
10. Then finish coffee.

I am usually up a good two hours prior to leaving the house in the morning. Some might say I lose too much sleep, but I am so slow-going in the AM, that I need to ease into the day, or my whole day will be thrown off...

Showering - 5-6 mins (once in a blue moon 10-15 mins)
Drying off - 2-3 mins
Putting my shorts and t-**** - 20-30 secs
Putting my contacts - 2 mins (sometimes more because of lense)

On most days i take my time and get ready in about 20 mins but if i need to go fast i can manage all that in 5-6 mins.

10 minutes, 15 tops. I just get my business done and get out. In the winter I can stay in up to 30 minutes because I love the feeling of warm water when it's cold :o . I also brush my teeth in the shower so that adds a few minutes.

You all make me feel like a little princess. :D

I am a guy with long hair, and it takes me around twenty minutes if I am shampoooing and conditioning. Then I must exfoliate and wash my precious face. After the shower, moisturizer must be applied.

If I am shaving beforehand and brushing teeth, then the total time comes to at least thirty minutes. :o

One can also add in drying, putting in contacts, and messing with hair into the above, so it may be near forty minutes.

I really try to hurry, and when I do, I shave off literally two or three minutes. I HAVE NO idea how one is able to shower in less than five minutes AND be completely clean. I presume that we all have different levels of cleanliness, no offense; it is because I am just obsessive compulsive. :)

Yep, definite princess material there.

Soap + hot water = clean. (2 minutes)
Shampoo/conditioner all in one + hot water = hair clean. (2 minutes)
Scratching. (1 minute)

All up, 5 minutes. Dead-set easy.

Add another 5 if you need to shave.

Good thing you don't live down here - because of the drought there have been incidents of "water rage" where households that have suspiciously green lawns have had vandalism and stuff done to them. If people found out you were wasting that much water they might go all medieval on you.

I'm deadly serious, wasting water is seen as a heinous act down here where the dams are below 10% in a lot of places and towns are starting to have to consider drinking their own recycled urine just to stay on the map.

About 20 mins, first thing in the morning (up at 6:40, out of the shower at 7:00... out of the bathroom at 7:10).

I have girly long hair, which is a complete sponge for shampoo & conditioner, so it takes an age to get the stuff out. If I don't make sure it's all out, I end up looking greasy all day. Yuck.

Sometimes I'll take longer if I get sidetracked by a good song on the shower radio. That'll add an extra 4 minutes of groove-time to my shower. Can't go wrong with the Lauren Laverne breakfast show on xfm!

I shave about every 3-4 days. So yeah, I typically look sorta scruffy. But I never include shaving or brushing teeth in my shower time.

I probably take 20 minutes in the shower. I get in, rinse and relax for a bit, then clean a piercing with hand soap, then shampoo my hair, then put conditioner in, then body wash, then rinse conditioner. Twenty minutes well spent.
