Hi,
After I unplugged my keyboard and mouse from my PPC mac mini at the same time.
I got a message telling me that I need to restart my computer by pressing the power button.
Is this normal?
Is this to worry about?
I can not reproduce it when I tried.

It was a kernel panic. If you don't want it to do it again, don't do what caused it again. ;)

Generally not. Kernal Panics are most generally related to hardware failure, which is mostly RAM. You may have experienced a freak incident that may never occur again.

a variety of things can cause Kernal Panics from occuring.

bad Ram and other hardware issues can cause them especially.

basically what happens in the simplest sense is that something happens to 'freak out' the OS and it can't respond at all. they are rare for the vast majority of people, however if the issue keeps popping up you'll need to have your machine looked at to try and figure out what is causing the panic. the fact that you can't reproduce it probably means that it was a one time occurance.

you can unplug and plug in USB devices with no problem and it doesn't matter what they are. perhaps unplugging them both at the same time resulted in the OS freaking out because it was looking for them or something else we don't know.

if it contiunes to happen, then look into it more.

It might just have been a power spike or surge backtracking through the USB ports when you pulled the two items out at the same time -- a fluke.

Suddenly removing 2 USB devices from 2 ports on the same USB bus WILL cause a kernel panic, due to the abrupt change in power & signal load.

The OS only expects it to be normal to disconnect 1 USB device at a time.

I think you should change "WILL" to "CAN", because "WILL" implies that it will always happen, and that is most definitely not true.
"CAN" implies that it can happen, which I have no idea if it's true or not, but "CAN" is vague enough to cover your bases.
