I'm in the city for the summer, and I need a job. Before you suggest the Apple Stores, I've already applied. I haven't heard anything from them, so it ain't looking good. I've inquired about a few volunteer jobs, and I've applied at FAO Schwarz. I need a job, soon enough summer's going to be over. Any suggestions?

what are your interests? you mentioned fao schwartz and the apple stores, so i assume you'll be in manhattan. you could probably make good money at a big name restaurant in times square, or somewhere else glitzy.

Just somethig fun, no office job. I just want to meet some new people and chill. Yea I'm in manhattan. I was also thinking maybe some really fancy Hotels, or some place in Times Square.
I'm up for anything. I'm also big on music, but entertainment in general. I was going to apply @ Nintendo World, but they didn't have any positions open.

i think being a server at a big restaurant in times square would be fun, you'd meet people, and i'm sure you'd make good money on tips.

Hotels would definitely be cool, and some positions get tips as well. Try any of the the Ian Schrager hotels, I loved the Hudson. http://www.morganshotelgroup.com/

I'll look into fancy restaurants too, but I don't have any experience in the restaurant biz.

Great if you like getting yelled at and kicked by kids, and love pizza.

Even though those types of jobs would be cool since I'm into tech stuff, I want something that is more in the spirit of the big city. I can apply for those jobs back home. I didn't know there was a Sony store though. I'll look into that.

what makes all you lot think he'll get a job in a nice restaurant? you think you can just walk in with no prior experience? jeez people, get a grip.
no offence to you SamIchi, but you mention you've no experience in the restaurant biz, so forget about it right now, unless you really want to, then go for it, but don't expect the good shifts or good money.
i'd recommend looking through Craigslist for something, NYC loves that site.

I'm not really looking for a "well paying" job. I just need a summer job.

There haven't been stip clubs in Times Square for over a decade now. Giuliani totally Disney-ified the area.

You don't need experience. You would start out as a bus boy and just work your way up. Same with a hotel. Start out as a bag carrier and work your way up. You will learn as you go.

What about jobs like campaigning? I found these 2 sites that were listed on Craigslist.
http://www.dialoguejobs.com/flash_index.html
I guess it's about raising money for children.
http://www.jobsthatmatter.org/jobdescrip.asp?id2=23215
They campaign and raise money for environmental and social issues.
Has anyone ever had jobs like these? Is it just walking around the streets asking for donations?
