This is a tough one for me, so my best choice is AlphaTech. He runs his own site, has common sense, unlike "people", has a Harley, and a Powerbook.

Does anyone want to be Ms. V for a day? http://www.rx7club.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Being a Spam Queen is a very honerable and exalted position it's not one to be taken lightly, you not only have to spam, you must do it well.

But back on topic....

Probably jefhatfield or sparkelytone or ubergeek or a few other people I can't think of at the moment, decisions, decisions......

if this were a "day with" thing, i would have gone for the spam queen. a day under her tutelage could make me a spam god of unrivaled proportions. i could level threads in a single post, corner the Egyptian market for cybersalt, and cause a general commotion among macrumors citizens without getting my posts deleted! mwhahahahaha.... er... or something.

I'll be Steradian for a day so I can try out his musical taste (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=269660#post269660). It would be interesting to like both Foo Fighters and Frank Sinatra.

No, I changed my find. I'd like to be 748s because it sounds like he's pretty good with Final Cut Pro, based on how he helped (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=160399) Rower_CPU. I'm learning Final Cut Pro but am still a bungling newbie. Do I get to keep my knowledge when I turn back into Doctor Q?

Then again, if I was yurko_1987 or any other member in Japan, it would be a cheap way to get to Japan, where I would like to go!

not that this is the place for it.... but i'll humor you.

why do people who try to give up smoking use nicotine gum/patches? or probably more appropriately, why do many use a dummy cig just to still feel like they're smoking?

it's not about the fact that i want to taste meat. but guess what. as with everyone else in the world (for the most part) i've been raised eating meat, it's what i've come to "accept" as the staple of my meals. so to stop eating meat and just go right to veggies or whatever is a bit harder than using meat substitutes that are often more convenient (e.g. lunch meats, hot dogs, veggie burgers) as well as giving much need protein for vegetarians/vegans, and while enabling the person to retain some semblance of their old diet.

but the beauty of it, is that my food didn't cause animals to go through immense, unnecessary pain, and of course death. we could discuss this further, feel free to start a thread for some rational discussion rather than attempting to take jabs at people who hold their beliefs dear to them.

as for the rest of my responses...

moxie- well if you were kidding, then where are my damn pics?

duke- definitely a power trip... "i've been itching...." for a reason to show your power again.

mc68k- indeed, there are older here. but few more grouchy. also, you think robbie's scared of wearing his favorite shirt (.sit happens) because of his voluptuous curves? i say, work it girl, work it! if you got it. flaunt it!

jelloshotsrule - I'm taking jabs at your eating habits, not your religious and/or political beliefs. Unless I missed something by not reading the political and religious threads, like the discussion on the religious worship of cows. :p

my point is not that eating meat is as bad as smoking. my point is that one becomes accustomed to eating meat, just as one becomes accustomed to smoking, and it is comfortable for people to be able to continue as close to that way of eating as possible

if meat substitute products make it easier for people to give up eating real meat, then i'm all for it...

just as i would offer someone a dummy cigarette if it would help them quit smoking.

but to act as though "if you want to taste meat, eat meat"... well it's not that simple.

i can't.

less time and more effort really... in other words, yeah, from start to finish making a salad might take less time, especially because i like to bake up some tater tots or fries to go with my veggie burger (to fulfill my american meal. ha). but i can toss it in the oven/microwave and do some animating or email or whatever while it goes. and often times i'm so damn hungry after being at school all day and not eating, so that's when i just need some quick eats... chips and onion dip are great for that.

Believe me, I feel ya. I guess we're in different spots... I used to eat like crap in college. and when i'm stoned... tater tots, subway sammiches, taco hell... bring it on.

In this order:

I'd like to be arn. (duh!)
Then vniow. (Intelligent, quick, and great shoes, but they'd probably hurt me after too long!)
Then jelloshotsrule (I'm jealous of his cool 'tar)

That means you'll have to be yourself for a day.

Sniff, sniff...

People want to be a Spam Queen, but nobody wants the be Sam *****?

Ms. V occasionally has some thought provoking posts, while Sam ***** probably didn't even have one post that seemed like a random coherent thought.

I don't know about our favorite amatuer spammer, I'm not sure how fun it would be to get banned every couple of weeks.http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=252654

is there anyone here who honestly wouldn't rather be any member but his/herself, even if just for that day?

ha, well, if you could actually switch bodies, don't know if that was implied before, it might be a little more interesting....;)

D Then it would definitely be time for a "POST A PIC OF YOUR GIRLFRIEND" thread, though noting the availability of her twin sister would be a big plus. :)

I'd be the Spam Queen, just so I could hold an exhalted title for a day.

It's good to be an exhalted anything! (Now I start the list of reasons why I regret saying that...)

vniow is self delusional - that is not an exalted title. Spam is spam, regardless how you cook it, it still tastes of spam somehow. :D

Try not to make it all go to her head ;)

Like none of your 9000+ posts had any spam in them whatsoever?

Oh, I'm not saying I haven't spammed, but if you look at the overall content of what I've posted it is by far much less spam than others. I try very hard to avoid trivial and inane responses.

Go ahead a do a search, you won't find much. Something not to be said for most of the people on the geekthread.

Anything in moderation is fine, its when it gets out of control that you have issues. There has been plenty of talk and concern about the spam level on the forums: its gotten a little out of hand.

Thank you, that is all.

Which is why the geek thread has its place!

At least we're not making pointless posts and banter in the news section or any of the Mac specific sections it's all being contained in one giant thread and with some responsibility it will stay in that thread.http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=257755http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=258478

even if it wasn't dumb to have an entire thread just to post spam, there's been so much damn talk about it by everyone and so much praise of the "spam queen" and/or "mr. spam" or whatever, that it's making its way into everything

for instance, you make a post about x in topic z and then one of the other geeks comes along and says "ms spam, you blah blah blah". and you reply "you just wish you were the spam queen", or whatever...

damn, and you could have said all of that in "GTH" and a couple of convenient "IHYs." temperance, temperance... ;)

It has kind of spread, i have to admit; we should be more discreet about it, i suppose. at least it's stayed exclusively inside the community discussion, where the slogan is "random discussions about anything." but sure, i can clean up my act some. sorry.

i'm surprised you don't throw me an ihy after my spam bashing. ;)

but you're right, had i only used my head... i should edit my post into "gth, ihaymf". ha

i don't think silliness is a problem, but when we start talking about such a massive scale and it's spreading throughout. people are posting, 2, 3, 5 times in a row (ok, so i don't know if they do 5...) and if it's not in the name of spam, but just in the name of silliness, then why 5? why not look at em all, reply in one post?

i think the rallying around "the spam queen" and other various titles can certainly be fun for you all, and that's all good. but when people come and see it and then follow suit, ie, spamming their asses off, well it's going to have a snowball effect.... for instance, 2500 posts or however many it is about.... not much.

it may be a reason for a macrumors chat. though i suppose you could always just create one. somehow....

We tried that, it was OK, but not as fun.http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=252654

If the sillyness about the samming is somehow spreading out from the geek thread then it's not cool and it stops almost immediately, for the most part it's been kept in one thread but occasionally it's been leaked but it's quickly been plugged.

Some people are taking this way too seriously.http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=251202

If we need a new thread to discuss the implications of the geek thread, that's fine. In this thread, I'd like to hear more about what MacRumors members admire/envy about each other. Looking at the last dozen or so posts, I'm reminded of Tom Lehrer saying "Let's not always see the same hands" in his "New Math" song.
