They were/are my wife and my favorite band in the 80s. I don't think they enjoyed top 40 success, but their no-sense rock 'n roll style was awesome. Almost like the Beatles, but a little rougher guitar sound. We saw them three times, and met them twice. Very nice guys, down to earth.
They're still hanging around:

Favorite tunes:
Cigarette
Groovy Tuesday
basically all of Especially for You album

I've got them securely nestled in my iPod. "The blues before and after..."
Now I need to go listen to them again! :D

Pat DeNizio works for XM Radio - when my wife worked there I met him a couple times - the Smithereens even performed at one of their Xmas Parties at the 9:30 Club in DC :D
They have a couple good songs I liked.

Yes we do! I love "Moving Pictures" but never moved beyond that. I'm sure I would like more Rush if I had it.
