When will 6G Ipod Arrive?

Jul 1, 2006, 11:23 AM
For some reason I can't see it happening in the next few weeks, so I'll guess 3 months or more which would still put it in time for Christmas buying.

It's too early for the touch screen tech, It'll be more like 6 months, I'm calling a spring release.

The more and more I think about it the more I don't think we'll see them until around Oct, Nov. This will be a huge jump for the iPod (with the touchscreen and all). Just think of the battery life required to run a screen that large.

I think there's a reason it's taking this long: they haven't perfected it yet. I just can't see it coming out for another 3-4 months.

I've contemplated buying a 5G but I think that the 6G is going to be amazing and worth the wait.

Most of the stock analyists are predicting a delay in the forthcoming ipod releases. Evidently, the stuff is just not working the way Apple wants it to.

Here is the article. It is very brief:
Apple Computer Inc.'s shares fell Wednesday to an eight-month low after an analyst predicted a delay in the updated version of iPod.
Cupertino-based Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL - News) shares closed at $56.02, a 2.46 percent drop, after trading as low as $55.41 during the day. The stock's 52-week range was from $36.12 to $86.40.

American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu predicted that because Apple switched suppliers, its iPod Nano player would ship in the fourth quarter rather than the third quarter.

Wu also said he thinks the wide-screen video iPod, which was expected to debut in the fourth quarter, will be pushed back until the first half of 2007.

Apple is scheduled to report third-quarter results in July.

I really don't think it'll be too soon, so I'm saying 1 year.

November-December duuuhh. People rush to buy presents in the holliday season so it's only smart to release a nice new shiny iPod for the masses to devour. :D

The 6GB mini shipped back in February of 2005. Does that count?

The new iPod will arrive one week after I get tired of waiting and buy one of the 5G refurbs. :p

Seriously, though, I "voted" for one month, but it will probably more like 2-3 months (but before Christmas buying season).

3 months- in time for Christmas, in time to blow the zune out of the water

I just got a refurb 2GB Nano as a way to hold me over until the updates. I started waiting in June when I first heard the rumors but who cares now. It was only $139 with tax.

Are we assuming the Nanos and Video iPods are going to be released at the same time? I would guess the Nanos will get updated sooner.

I'm saying 3 months.

We'll see a new/revised iPod line in time for it to be underneath a lot of trees on December 25.
