Also commonly called custom plates for your car.. who's got 'em and what do they say? Also what type of vehicle are they on? Do you hate vanity plates?
Anyone got a good idea for a vanity plate for a Lawyer?
I'm not sure if people will be hesitant of posting their plate or not...
I am getting closer to purchasing a Jeep and am probably going to go with "LST SQRS" if I can get over the nerdiness of it. :)
i've got (sort of) custom plates on my old beetle.
it spells out "CE HP110" which was my old licence plate when i was living in germany. a bit of nostalgia if you will.
[edit: i'm a buckeye fan ;) :p]

"Wanker"
That was cool.

i've got em on my car...a phonetic spelling of my first and last name...in 6 letters no less! since i have an unusual name, it doesn't make any sense unless you know me. my plates have been the same for 22 years...
back in my younger days i also had a carrera with " ruf lyf " plates...ahhh, the pretentious 80's. :D

My friend tried to get plates that said
T1 3VOM
Which in the rearview mirror spells
MOVE IT
Durn license plate people wouldn't let him have 'em, though.
Jealous they didn't think of it first I guess.

After 6 years, I finally got mine taken off. What it said, I'm not willing to say.
I don't have them but I have regular plates "375-NEM" which when my parents saw it the thought of Star Trek Nemesis for some reason. I also had plates on my old truck which were "PR1370" from some movie "Paraschute Ringer 1370".
Unfortunately I have a crappy '91 Taurus, so no Vanity plates for it, but I'm looking into getting a Pontiac Vibe, which I want to have plates that say WAIPAHU, or TEG, or TEGS 1, or CLOAKED, or even MACSRUL, or TNKDFNT.
Best one I've Seen is OVRCLKD, this PC guy had "Over clocked" his car with a turbocharger, and was famous for overclocking computers.

Never had a vanity plate, no interest in a vanity plate. Accidently for a while we had a plate CLS 354, the initials of my mother before she was married!

I did not have a vanity plate, but my first car ever (thunderbird) came with regular ones that spelled B16 PMS, and from a distance it looked like BIG PMS. Not very manly, but I was a poor student and couldn't afford to vhange them.

My plates are a variation on "Doctor Q". However, I give the award for the best personalized plate to a woman named Noelle whose plate is HIJKMNO.

Right now I have WD2UMA - a very cryptic "Word to your mother" (it usually takes a bit for people to catch it).
When my little sister turned 16, I got her plates that said "N2BOYZ" - she thought it was funny, and so did I, until my car broke down when I was home visiting and I had to borrow hers - I had a nice day on the town, cruising for dudes
(with my girlfriend in the passenger seat).

Well, I bought my jeep today (WOOHOO!)... I really like it so far, but I have to go pay taxes on it tomorrow and figure out if I really want vanity plates or not.
I don't think I could deal with 'lst sqrs' in the long run... but my friends are arguing for plates that say "BIG PMPN" or "BLING X2".. hah, those would be funny.. but again, I doubt I could deal with it in the long term. I'd go with "SINNER" but I do have to drive this thing to work.. not very professional. Who knows...

I think it would be kind of cool if your liscence plate said 'Crash',
because not only is that your handle on MacRumors, it also has
a connotation having to do with cars, even if it is a negative one.

speaking of which, (i hate to bring it up in this context, but) a senior at my high school got into a pretty serious car accident this morning driving to school. about halfway through the day they told us about it, and how he was in critical condition. since it's a catholic school, we were all praying for him, but from recent news my friend told me just now, he died tonight. really sad, he was only like 18. really makes you stop and appreciate life.
in other news, my mom's getting her new car this weekend, and audi a4 cabriolet, and she wants vanity license plates. shes not sure what to get though.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's tough, I had several close friends and a cousin die in car accidents when I was highschool. There's no doubt about it, its painful... talk to your parents about it if you're having problems and we're here also.. its hard but when you got people around you who care and understand.. it does get better.

yeah, ive had 2 kids die at schools ive gone to - one at my
elementary school, one at my HS. It is sad, but I knew neither of
them, which is both good and bad. It is sad that people have to
die so young. :( .
You should get a vanity license plate that says 'CRASH' or some
deviation of the word Cr2sh.

scem0, not schem0 ;). You could do some deviation of the word,
like CR4SH, or CRA5H.

l33t 5p34k is so useful ;)
i tried asking my mom to get grlgeek but no it was unavailable because they thought that it was inappropriate or it was already taken (last time i looked it wasn't) and by 'they' i mean the department of motor vehicles or whatever it's called.
damn i have to wait another 2 years until i get a car...

A long time ago (before the state realized), you could get zeros and Os on your plates.
The local Porsche Club chapter had a member drive to get as many o0oo0o0 plates on cars as possible.
Cops would write tickets to Porsche, black, Lic # 0000000.
Always got thrown out of court!
voicegy
Mar 6, 2003, 01:24 AM
My current plate is the same as my MacRumors handle: "voicegy"
My plates years ago used to say "krftwrk" for my favorite band, Kraftwerk. When I got into voice over work, I changed it to voicegy. They want you to turn in your old plates when you get a new one, and I told them one of the plates was stolen, so I only turned in one of them.
The "stolen" krftwrk plate is with my Kraftwerk music collection at home.;)

You could try to get ID10T, but people might think you're stupid...
If you can get up to 8 letters, you can get URA1DI0T

My guess would be that they would deny the request. Seems from other posts in this thread that the "Bureau of Motor Vehicles" is careful not to have possibly inflamatory signs! :D

haha, I hope he does..... If he is someone I know, that would
make for great fun if he had vanity license plates saying scem0
rox. I would love to get a license plate that just says 'EMO' b/c
that is my nickname, and that would look cool.
