military time ? i never heard that24h clock is used primarily by the military here in the US. Most civilians never have to deal with it.

For that reason, it's become known as "military" time here in the US.

Yea I was gonna ask that too Takao. I was brought up with that time as its the format my oven clock uses :) my parents had a simple way of explaining it when i was very young (take away 12 if the time is greater than 13:00). and it just stuck. beats having AM or PM after the time.

What I like is, you didn't let the thread go to waste.

'Can you?'

'No.'

'Oh. Ok. Soooo...'

Classic.

Right on the money....I know what it means but I never heard anyone using it. 24 hour time is normal for everyone else:) ..

I always use 24 hour time, maybe it is just more common in the UK. I think it is better than having to have am or pm written at the end. I use it on my iPod, mobile phone, PowerBook and everything else that displays the time. But I never say the time in the 24 hour way if I am talking to someone.
Also does anyone know if you can change am/pm time to 24 hour for the post times on macrumors?

No way, 'military time' is something way cooler than simply 24 hr time.

You have to scream it, and always outline how many 'hundreds' are in it.

Eg: "0 SIX HUNDRED, SLIMEBAG!"
