I have a sawtooth that I want to use with these speakers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002WPSCG/sr=8-7/qid=1152026698/ref=pd_bbs_7/104-7033114-9090369?ie=UTF8 I used to use them with my pc before I got rid of it. What is the cheapest mac compatible sound card that will be able to drive them in 5.1?
Let me know, thanks.

The most popular (and possibly the only?) 5.1 card for the Mac is the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/M%2DAudio/99004090600/). It's a great card but unfortunately there are no $25 sound cards in the Mac universe as far as I know.

Wow, there is no way I'm spending $80 to use $50 speakers, haha. Why do all mac peripherals have to be so expensive. I just finally bought a $70 sata card for it. Oh well.

The Mac peripheral market is getting better every day, but it is still behind the PC market, especially when it comes to low-mid priced gear. There are a lot of very expensive, high-end sound processing cards available to Mac-using professionals but most gamers are limited to 2.1 because there are no low-end, low priced 5.1 cards on the market. To be fair, many of the $25 sound cards for PCs are not very good, but it would be nice to at least have the option...
