Well I ended up with a DS Lite and Mario Kart. In the end, the PSP was just too dang expensive.

No it took a few weeks... I've been posting in this thread for a week or so and then it's been a couple more since I saw my first DS and thought that having a protable would be pretty cool. I had the opportunity to go to Best Buy so I took advantage of it. I haven't opened yet, but I'm sure it'll be great.

Right now I'm leaning towards the PSP, so you nintendo folks, sell me on the DS Lite so I can save money.

Oh, I see what you ment... Well, if price was not an issue I probably would've gone with the PSP, but I couldn't justify spending over $300 on a gaming system just to start of.

DS = lightweight, classic, old-school gaming. PSP = portable media player/mini PS2.

DS wins.

Keep in mind that the views and opinions on this forum in particular are very one sided and biased. I hope you bought it based on your own choices without motivation from the nintendo nazis around here.

There is nothing wrong with either system, they both have their plus's and minus's. I own both systems and play them both quite frequently.

That's nice, I'm so one sided I bought both handheld systems. I'm so one sided my favourite consoles of yesteryear are the Mega Drive, PS1 and Dreamcast. I'm so one sided I spent £300 on a Commodore Amiga, the most expensive system I've bought.

as a self-confessed gameplay whore I only get the systems offering me the games with the best gameplay.

Come on rj, you are all over the gaming boards and while we have a well-chronicled thread about your purchase and subsequent selling of the PSP-- after like what? A week or two?

Please understand: I agree with nearly all of the points you make in your posts (ie. Sony is shooting itself in the foot with their PS3 approach), and while I have both the PSP and DS Lite, I'd go with the DS if forced to choose.

I think its fair to say that these forums are totally slanted towards Nintendo as evidenced by most of the polls, and that does not bother me. I don't think that Ed H was calling you out.

I know, I just want the get the point across I'm not as biased as people think. Just a certain company right now are pushing my buttons right about now. Out to prove I'm not a Nintendo Nazi :p
the only console of last gen I bought and didn't keep was the PS2. Along with the SNES it's probably the only mainstream system I don't currently own. final point, I'm done.

Yeah regardless of what, it'll always come down to well, the price. ;)

If PSP dropped the price $50 and added some kind of memory, I'd probably be all over it, but since I do not game a lot, the DS lite seemed most pratical.

I am also yet to open it. That's what happens with me. I buy it and then keep it in the box. Wish I could change myself, but it seems to happen with everything, iPod nano was in the box for 2 days,...

btw, do we have an expected release of DS Air? I was doing some searching and couldn'd find anything

Now that's a completely unbiased, neutral point of view. Nintendo nazis? Maybe we just really enjoy the platform and we're glad he got one because we think he'll enjoy it. Does that mean we all think other handhelds suck? Of course not! The person who would assume that, IMO, is being overly defensive –*and I'm not referring to you specifically, so don't jump on that either.

Also, by saying that, you missed the point of his coming here. He came to this thread to ask which one we think was better. Someone suggesting that he him to buy it on his own without input from us when that's what he came here for is ridiculous.

Yeah if I could've decided without any input from anyone I wouldn't have created this thread in the first place. Yeah it might be biased and all but they're just as an "advice" or a guideline but in the end you'll be making the final decision anyway, IMO.
