be smart, keep this in PM. Nintendo have a lot of legal stuff with publicly linking to emulators.

or better still

^ What do you mean a lot of legal stuff publicly linking to emulators. Emulators are legal so there shouldn't be a problem linking to them. (see Sony v. Connectix)

Anyway there are currently no intel mac nintendo 64 emulators (i think).
The only two mac emulators that I know of are sixtyforce (http://www.sixtyforce.com/) and mupen (http://mupen64osx.lamer0.com/) but they are both powerpc only.
It might be possible to compile the mupen x86 linux version on the mac.

wow talk about an inability to read

Can Websites and/or Internet Content Providers be Held Liable for Violation of Intellectual Property Rights if they are Only Providing Links to Illegal Software and/or Other Illegal Devices?

Yes. Personal Websites and/or Internet Content Providers sites That link to Nintendo ROMs, Nintendo emulators and/or illegal copying devices can be held liable for copyright and trademark violations, regardless of whether the illegal software and/or devices are on their site or whether they are linking to the sites where the illegal items are found.

It's a trademark violation. infringing on intellectual property and that.

Some people say that it is legal to use an emulator and a copy of a game if you own the game. Nintento clearly claims otherwise, but they of course have a vested interest in discouraging it. Has the issue been decided in court?

(most) Emulators are not illegal software. ROMs, sure, but not emulators that have been developed from legal reverse-engineering (which most have).

What's with the personal attacks?
Just because Nintendo says emulators are illegal does not mean they are right. As I said before if you do some research on previous emulation cases such as Sony v. Connectix the rulings were in favor of emulation.
As long as the emulators don't contain any copyright material (such as the BIOS code) then they are legal

wow, this is just what we need. yet another argument on whether or not emulators or roms or both are legal or illegal.

we need more of these like we need more ds vs. psp debates

nintendo just annoy me with that page they make out like we should not be allowed to play mario 3 anymore because "it's illegal" it's their choice to allow users to play old games and if they were upfront about it and said "we plan to bring all the old classics to the wii thus we cant let you distribute them" fine but the "we're tight bastards who don't want you having any fun" argument does not run.

legality is irrelevant as far as arguments against piracy of something of the arguers creation.

It's not really an argument. Simple fact, legally created emulators are in fact legal.

Illegally produced ROMs or Emulators are not legal.

Such points are going to get made when someone pops up and makes incorrect statements regarding the subject. This isn't even a debate, it's True vs. False, no matter what people's opinions are.

Nintendo is in this case incorrect. Emulators are legal. Rom sites are illegal. Linking to an emulation site is legal. Linking to a rom site is illegal.
