man, that was awesome with the Dr. Strangelove in the corner. Kudos, although more PS credit is due to zarathustra for a good job with the moustaché. this is classic, guys.

haha, my english teacher really respected black history month and she really loved martin luther king. I gave her one of my many martin luther king think different poster so she could hang up. she hangs it up and the first thing she does is take a sharpie and right "ly" and the end of it. then she goes on and on on how apple doesnt use proper grammer in that ad campaign. her being the english teacher i left it at that and just laughed. she is right though. maybe thats the reason theydont do the ad campaign anymore.

That first Gates pic makes him look like Eric S. Raymond, famous psychopathic (and freakishly ugly) Linux evangelist. I don't know if you were trying to achieve that or if you were trying to achieve a Hitler, but it doesn't matter because ESR is much uglier than Hitler or anyone else for that matter:
Actually, the Think Different campaign is not grammatically incorrect, it just goes against our normal perception of the word "Different". Apple is not telling us to think in a different way, which would be written Think Differently, but instead they are telling us to think "different", as in thinking of the word different, or of something that is different. Now, possibly it could still be argued that quotation marks are needed around the word different if that is the case, but since Apple was obviously trying to get us to think of something that was different (the Mac OS), and not the word different itself, it does not require those marks.
Now that you are empowered in your knowledge of the English language, go out there and tell all your English teachers to Think Different!

Thank you, Skywalker, you beat me to it.
That is quite correct...the topic was beaten to death when the campaign first came out, and I certainly would expect a company such as Apple to properly research grammar rules before embarking on such a huge campaign. And they did.

uhh, try 6 million. still not great, but better than 80.
and obviously, hitler did think different. but not in a way we like.
aside from the genocide, hitler was remarked to be a charismatic people-person who was articulate and intelligent.
unfortunately, he was also a little crazy.
i can't even take offense... PC clone, nice try, next time go for a whole set-- you could do charles manson, jeffrey dahmer, harold shipman, fred and rose west, and albert fisher. some obscurity lends authenticity to the work.

actually i was 6 million jews, and 7 million poles, and others. so that makes 13 million people. that hitler TD theme isnt't really anything new, there's a whole bunch of em over at spymac, and all they do is get some people mad
zarathustra, nice job on the arm band, looks nice.

PC Clone, i was upset at first by the chilling tone of your picture, but i see now that you're making an excellent, ironic point. here we are comparing billybob to the Führer, and snickering about it, but oh, can't compare Apple to him. even if the gates analogy is more... politically accurate... the fact remains that bill gates is just as innocent as jobs of the deaths of 6 million jews, of 13 million people. that is every bit as outrageous as comparing apple to him.
it's amazing how hypocritical we get. i was feeling the same as the others who responded negatively to you, but i do see a very huge double standard here now. i admire your sense of irony :)

aside from all this, i must say pc clone that that is a nice picture selection to use as a TD poster, and pretty well done, better than a lot of spoofs i've seen.

I agree! Comparing Bill to Hilter is probably a little strong. But actually Bill Gates is a dictator of the PC world. Through strong arm tatics he controls all aspects of the industry! :(

No I really don't download MP3s. So you can LYAO. I don't even have a land phone line anymore at home. The only internet I do is during work.

Ah no. Saying that Bill Gates is similar in nature to a blood thirsty twisted greedy individual like hitler is COMPLETELY different then saying Apple SUPPORTS and likens their business and targets it's audience to a blood thirsty twisted greedy individual like hitler.

obviously you need to be more careful with your "humor," 'cos i didn't catch it either , and i still don't see how rolling eyes does anything to lighten the "offended" tone of your message. it almost adds to it. try :D, ;), or :p next time, lol.
good that you own all your mp3s. I can only legally lay claim to about 95% of mine, but i don't download illegal songs anymore; i periodically go buy the music i have downloaded these days, heh. anyways.
have you checked MS's (or wherever you got the pic) policy about jacking their own pictures and turning herr billybob into a Nazi? :D ;)

Do you understand degrees? Hitler is one of the most evil men the world has ever seen. have you ever seen footage of concentration camps? can you begin to understand the evil in that?
you may have heard, comparing someone to Hitler is the ultimate conversation stopper. It is. If you think that exerting totalitarian rule on the software market (which is bullsh|t, he only has a near monopoly; totalitarian rule implies that ALL, EVERY LITTLE BIT of your opposition disappears, usually violently so), it's still nothing like "racial cleansing," or even waging an imperial war on the free world.
that said, i love and appreciate hyperbole, and i don't honestly care if you compare gates to Hitler, because it is funny if you don't think about it too much. but it is SO hypocritical to wink at that and then turn around and say "wow, that Hitler think different thing is in much worse taste." it's in the same taste.

Come on? Be a baby? Just a picture???
I think I have to clarify a bit...
First off. 80 million is the total number of people who died during WWII (numbers vary, 60 million is probably a more accurate number). 6 million jews were murdered. 25 million or so russians died.
Now, why did I react to the «Think Different» picture. The ad campaign was about people who thought differently. The picture with Hitler and the words «Think Different» is directly linked at the ideology Hitler was responsible for, the nazi ideology. Problably the worst form of racist ideology to excist. Linking Apple with the nazi ideology does not make a funny picture. It's actually rather disgusting.
Now, why did I not comment the Bill Gates picture? Because the picture does not link Microsoft in any way to the nazi ideology. The picture depicts Bill Gates as the evil man who wants to gain control over the world, and make everyone use Windows. Hitler wanted to gain control over the world also. The picture makes fun of Gates as a computer dictator, unlike the «Think Different» mock up, which links Apple to the nazi ideology.
It's a question of good or bad humor, not taking things «the harsh way».
But hey, this is macrumors.... blah...

Yea I understand degrees, do you understand not related? Comparing a person to Hilter is in no way related to a company SUPPORTING Hitler. Nothing. No reltationship. So if it has nothing to do with the human comparison how is it hypocritical? It's not. So there's no same tastes.

that made no sense to me, dude. comparing someone to BEING Hitler is much worse than comparing someone to a Hitler supporter. some of hitler's supporters were fooled into following him, caught up with the times, or just sympathizers (with Germany's plight). when you talk about BEING hitler (which, please understand, is exactly what these photos do), there is no way to cut him that doesn't make him look like the very incarnation of evil, and that's who we're comparing to bill gates. or at least, this is one way to look at it.
and it's the same way of looking at it that causes the offense at that "think different" poster with Hitler on it. I mean, the comparisons are both as valid. Hitler was certainly a forceful, conniving person, like Bill Gates. but he also thought different. or at least, it seems so to me, examining history.
I realize the poster is not comparing hitler to apple, but it is most certainly comparing their thought process/design sense/goals to his. it's not specific as to WHICH they are supporting. it's just the "different" ones.
you know the phrase "in bad taste," right? it meanse that something is inappropriate or uncalled for. if something is in bad taste, people get offended. so, as i said, both of these examples are equally bad, or neutral, or funny, depending on how you look at them--they are in the same taste. so to laugh at the one and to take offense at the other is hypocritical, because you're holding a double standard. which is what i was saying.
