I guess there are quite a few people interested in (or actually earning a living as a professional in) film editing on these forums, so I figured this Fresh Air interview with Thelma Schoonmaker, Scorsese's Favorite Editor might of interest. You can listen to it for free for the next few days before it goes on sale as an AudioBook.

She talks about her editing experiences with "Raging Bull" and "Aviator", how she got into editing, what she thinks about digital editing and a few other interesting anecdotes.

Thanks for the link, I'm surprised nobody has replied to this thread or recognize it...Scorsese is one of my favorite directors along with Schoonmaker as the editor.

I heard that interview on the radio coming back from Chicago. It was a very nice interview. Thanks for the link!

she saved Casino, in my opinion and her work on Bringing out the Dead is remarkable.

Married to Michael Powell, huh. Peeping Tom is pretty amazing. Be sure to listen to the commentary on the Criterion disc.
