I think mine is my iBook 800/20Gb ipod because its the best of both worlds and since they can be synched i count them as one. My second favorite has to be my tivo because it has all of this seasons episodes of 24 on it.

Not yet.... Audi are releasing 2 new TT models this year...... a V6 and a smaller 150BHP model.... so I'm wanting to check them out, although I'm hoping that used 225BHP ones will fall in price when they're released!!

I still like the idea of a roadster, although I know what you mean with scuttle shake etc..... and considering how crappy the uk summers are, and the fact it's a boatload of cash more expensive than the coupe to insure, and it only has 2 seats....... but they just look so much more fun....

Decisions decisions..... I need an apartment first though!! :p

V6! want it now... gimme gimme... (starts drooling)

Friend of mine has just bought a Seat Leon Cupra, yeah, your probably thinking... why?

It's an absolute monster apparently, outperforms a V6 Corrado and the 4-motion Golf plus you probably could live in it:D

I'd still worry about the roll protection on that roadster, can't imagine the windscreen surround being strong enough. Mind, I can't imagine turning the thing over either, but you never know;)

One thing about the roadster....don't get a puncture.

the spare tyre is of the space-saver variety so if you take off the fullsize punctured wheel you're in trouble, it doesn't fit in the boot (trunk). They supply you with a bag to put said wheel in, which you're then supposed to place on the back seat. the roadster doesn't have a back seat. so, if you're not alone, you're screwed.

nice design there guys

Nope, my coolest toy is not my dual processor Power Mac. It's my PowerMate scrollwheel. Sure, I can program it to do something convenient for each application, but the cool part is when you turn out the room lights and watch its light pulsate. Maybe Apple's rumored programmable-color computer casing will make the whole computer do it someday.

i heard something about this years ago. does ithave some sort of barcode scanner or anything on it too??? apparently (on the prototype one i saw) you're supposed to scan perishables or whatever and the refrigerator lets you know when they're almost out of date, i believe it can also be set to automatically order new supplies through it's internet connection and have them delivered to your door. how cool????

I know someone with a Cupra too... they go like the clappers..... :)

It's not really the roll over protection that really worrys me, I'm confident that they're safe in that respect, also remembering that they have rollover hoops behind the seats, if you've seen the footage of a Mercedes SL roadster rolling over, you'd be amazed at the combine strength of the windscreen and rollover bar...... I just think the Roadster is alot funkier, although the lack of rear seats could be abit of a problem every now and again!!

I need to have an extended test drive in both and see what rocks me......

I'm not much of a Porsche fan to be honest, I like the 356 Speedster (or a chesil replica) but their current range don't really do it for me especially that Salmon pink interior Porsche do!! !!

I'd rather have the TT parked outside!!

I know... I was reading about this in one of the motoring magazines over Christmas..... a reader suffered a similar fate, so he called Audi and the woman at the other end told him to out the wheel in the bag provided, then put the wheel in the boot (trunk), when the driver informed her it didn't fit, she suggested putting it in the back seat, of which he answered the roadster doesn't come with the 2 extra seats...... apparantly the woman put him on hold and came back 20 minutes later confirming it didn't fit an maybe he should call roadside assistance....... heh heh!!

If I was in that situation, then the passenger would simply have to make do with an Alloy on their lap.... if they didn't like it, they could call a taxi..... heh heh!!

A slight oversight by Audi on that though.....:p :p :p

It would be my Titanium PowerBook.

But as for real toys, well, I've been working at a large hangar at National Airport and the open space was a perfect location - so I went to the DiscoveryChannel store and bought a Radio Controlled Hovercraft! The thing does over 20 mph and is a blast!

I don't actually buy it that often, I generally go for either 'Car' (I like the design) or 'Autocar And Motor' as it has the best rep in the UK for genuine road tests etc!!

Could you get Borders to get it on special order for you?? Actually do you have a Borders near where you live?? (I know Seattle has one!) I know that the one in London stock U.S. mags and newspapers... maybe they could get Evo in as well from UK suppliers???

My god, the HF, how did I forget that particular piece of insanity?

I chased a black one down the M69 past Leicester sometime in the early 90's, I had a Lotus Elan then, the turbo, went like s**t off a well greased shovel, but the HF left me for dead after the initial on-ramp introductions. I think I'd got him up to about 65-70, then he went past me and kept going...:D :D :D

What a glorious sight that was.

You're dead right about the roadster's look, a beauty, how do you rate the Elise against it?

even the 16v 'grale was awesome. i remember flinging a mate's modified Punto GT around Goodwood in the pouring rain, when all of a sudden a 16valver comes flying past me lick it was stuck to the road, there were cars aquaplaning off the track but the 'grale flew past like there was no rain at all. Still one of the quickest point to point cars around.

ew, Leicester, the one time i went there, i was on my way back when i rolled my HF Turbo (the pics are around here in a car wreck pictures thread a few months back). aerodynamics of a brick, solid as a brick too thankfully.

ha ha the M69..... the UK's unofficial 'Autobahn'... heh heh!! I know that stretch of road well (I'm technically from Coventry you see!)

The Lotus Elan.... that was taken over by was it Hyundai?? or Daewoo...?? KIA?? hmmmmmm now that's got me thinking!?? that was really bizarre!!

Elise.... now I quite like the original one... in a Gunmetal with that burgandy red roof.... but I don't really rate the current facelift version..... I think that'll date more quickly than the original one..... it looks less classic!!!?

As for driving the Elise or so I've read is more fun, and more accelerative.... in the dry.... I reckon both have seriousl 'Kings Road' cool about them, but I'd still go for the TT as it's more practical and has 1000x better interior.... plus if you're tall, then the your head becomes the Elises rollover protection..... :p :p :p

As for the HF... it was all part of that late 80's homo rally car thing wasn't it!! The Metro 6R4, Lancia S4, Ford RS 200, and Pugly err I mean Peugeot T16.....

What were they taking in the 80's??? :p :p

Glorious Goodwood (yeah, I know it the horse track really) had some fun in a moded Renault 19 16v on an open day, my best pal runs a VR6 Corrado there frequently... Happy days:D

I fit in most of the small, swift cars, but I think you're right, certainly about the interior, the Elan used to leak like a sieve:p Hand built cars always have their little foibles...

I loved that overblown look at the time, never mind the aerodynamics, just stuff more power, bigger arches, wider tyres and huge wings on an already suicidely quick car and sell it to blokes with mullets and shiney suits:D

Problem was that 4-5 years later, your average boy-racer type could afford them second-hand and things got seriously dangerous for a while;) Then they taxed the things off the road:p

I think my favourite road has to be the B660 near where I used to live in Bedford. What a road. And I think some of the motoring mags hail that one too, not sure it can beat Wales, but there's no mountaisn in Bedfordshire :p

oh, and there's a few Borders, and Barnes and Nobles around, but there's more independant newsagents and quite a few specialise in foreign magazines, so it's not difficult to get hold of them all, Evo, Top Gear, Car etc etc, they all cost around 6 or 7 squid mind. of those pieces of hardware. I could only imagine owning all 3.

I WANT.  ;) :D :D

i thought you envied "no one and nothing"?

i don't envy her; you have to take the good with the bad, and there's plenty to go around. i am happy with my TiBook :p

greed isn't a virtue, it's contentedness. don't you like your little PeeCees?

I could only afford a Chesil replica, even then they're in the £15k to £20 region if you want a Pukka one!!

Envy.... ;)

hah, i know, crazy sh*te. Lancia Stratos too..."I know! we'll strap a ferrari V8 into a stoopidly light shell so that it has about 2000bhp per ton and get someone to drive it sideways!"

There's even a WHSmith popping up here and there in airports and train stations. All I want is a Marks n Sparks! Pret is here now, yay! although without their vanilla danishes

£6-7 squid... man that's harsh!!! Would it be cheaper just to subscribe??

The Stratos.... that was a truely mental car, looked great though..... and it had those massively thick doors..... I think my fav car from that Group B rally period would have to be the Ford RS 200, I totally love it.... even if it looked abit like a frog!! I remember Car magazine doing a roadtest with one of them and an Audi Quattro short wheelbase focussed greenlane missile thingys..... it was way back in 1987, a truely great article with some stunning photography of the cars in action on the Isle Of Skye.....

My favourite drivers road.... hmmmm.... actually it's in Northern California, it's where highway 1 goes inland at Hardy Creek and spirals off up into the mountains, a truely superb road.... unfortunately I was in an Oldsmobile Intrigue V6 at the time, with the chracteristically super soft suspension settings of U.S. cars, so I didn't risk giving it some as I reckon it would've wallowed straight of the road at the first corner!! :p

Now an Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7 on those roads..... now we're talking!!

There's a photo of her in one of the older threads, I'd post it again, but I stuffed up iPhoto the other week, and am having a huge amount of trouble re-importing 30,000 photos...

After the season we've had that second half was just magnificent.

maybe we should just move there instead of building this new stadium which has no corners. way to let the atmosphere out.

have yet to see the final, went skiing for the weekend instead. i still don't think my girlfriend realises just how HUGE a sacrifice it was for me to miss the final. my usual pub should have taped it for me, so i'll catch up tomorrow. sucks having to pay $20 to watch the 'pool.

toy: my ibook, because it's fun and it doubles as a tool, too

tool: my pc laptop, but it does not have the fun aspect to qualify as a toy

but if i got an alienware laptop, used for gaming, then i could say that pc laptop would qualify as a toy as well as a tool

if i had the money right now, the ultimate toy would be a 12" powerbook
